I am a new user running nextpvr on a backend pc with a matricom kodi client.

I am having an issue that when I watch live tv for a while the stream will freeze and sometimes will just say buffering, but never finish buffering.

I looked at the nrecord logs on the backend pc and found this:

My best guess is that my live tv buffer is somehow filling up the small hard drive space on the matricom client, but I have no idea how to fix that. I have tried turning off timeshifting, but that did not seem to help.

I would post kodi logs, but I am not sure how to pull those off the matricom box.

Another ex-MCE user here.
I have set up NPVR with DVB-S and DVB-T tuners, and EPG Collector to get guide listings. All good - no problems.
Then set up a front end with Kodi/LibreELEC running on a RPi3. Again (eventually) everything works.

But I think there is a problem with Kodi because it randomly forgets my painstakingly organised TV channel line-up (that is, the channel numbering sometimes reverts to whatever the NPVR channel scan produced).
I would like to renumber the channels in NPVR and then use the 'get channel numbers from backend' option in Kodi as this seems the cleanest solution.

I know I can edit the channel numbers one by one in the NPVR channel settings, but knowing my luck I would renumber fifty channels and then realise I need to slot BBC1HD in between BBC1 and BBC2...
Google has not been my friend with this one - I've found a few similar queries but no efficient solution.
I've played around with trying to write out the contents of the npvr.db3 database file to edit the channel numbers but I'm not sure that is the way to go.

Is this an issue or am I just not seeing something obvious? :confused:

I'm new to TV Tuner cards. I've spent a week or two looking into what to do. It still seems like rocket science.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish: I have Comcast. I naturally hate them more than almost anything. I refuse to pay them an extra penny, so I want to bypass renting a DVR and use my PC to stream video (so I don't miss football games at work). I only need to record 1 show at a time, and get 1 channel at a time. I planned to use software to setup recordings while I'm at work.

My current setup: I have Win 7, 64 bit, a Cisco RNG150 STB connected directly to my Hauppage Win-TV HVR 1260 tuner card (ATSC/QAM) with a s-video cable (I don't care about image quality). From other forums, people have said this device should work for this purpose. - I may be able to use Windows Media Center... not sure yet, will try it later too.

So, NextPVR detects my card. It shows up 2x: as ATSC, and as QAM. When I scan for channels with either device, I don't find any.

I feel this should theoretically work...at least to detect the 1 channel my box is tuned to. I know I've probably missed something, or my setup may be wrong. Do I need to do anything to the existing co-axial cable line? It just goes from outlet>cablebox.
As far as I understand it, all the STB does is take Comcast's encrypted, digital signals and decrypt them. It then pushed them out unencrypted (I think in an analog format, but probably also digital). After the signals hit the box, it is unencrypted.

The other NextPVR settings are basically default, including decoders. I don't have any EPG I know of.

I could use some assistance troubleshooting this in a logical order, before I tinker with settings and make anything worse.

Recently, all but one program recording has stopped just after 14 minutes on the local NBC network affiliate. The problem programs have all been one hour programs. Recordings on all other networks are as scheduled in length. This problem was occurring on two separate installations of NextPVR. I contacted Schedules Direct to check if there was a problem with their EPG. They checked - no problem. Out of desperation, I reinstalled NextPVR on both PC's. Problem disappeared.

I've started having some issues where my server that I have my tuners and NextPVR installed doesn't wake up to record shows, and it doesn't stay on when it actually IS recording. Does NextPVR have a program or something that it runs only when it's recording that I can tell the LightsOut program to watch for to keep from going into Standby? Also, my system used to wake up to record shows fine, but I installed the latest version a few weeks ago and now it's not. Could the latest version be what's causing the problem? Should I uninstall and reinstall the whole thing? If so, is there a way to keep the settings (like the EPG data and tuner info)?

i try to do things the easy way and am having trouble with the tv guide updating...
here in little old New Zealand, our tv guide is now being sent in a format that Nextpvr can read natively, so no need for any 3rd party xml grabber...yay..
but i have to manually update the epg by going into the settings\channels\updateepg...

so boring...

i have seen talk of people writing batch files for the likes of xmltv to auto update, so i thought why not write a script for nextpvr to update the epg for me...
but what should i write in the .bat file in the scripts folder...

or do i write a batch file that i can run from the windows scheduler ?

I installed Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3176938) today.

After reboot, even though the Tray icon for Ntray was there, "show Status" was blank, nothing running and no devices there.

I clicked the "Restart Recording Service" and everything went to normal. All my tuners showed up in the "Show Status"

I intentionally rebooted and the same thing happened. Ntray loaded but the recording service failed to start until I manually restarted it.

Any idea? Also, this is a fresh install (last week) of NPVR with Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD model 01609. Everything was working fine until this newest Update from Microsoft today. This takes me to Windows 10 Pro, version 1607, build 14393.105 on an AMD. My Intel got the same update with no issues with NPVR with a USB WinTV-HVR-950Q

To sum up the issue, after the Windows 10 update, at reboot, I must manually restart the NPVR recording service each time.

I hope someone (Sub?) can assist. I really want to get NextPVR working correctly. I’m so close and I love the program so far.

I was able to get past the EPG Update crashing issue by replacing the NTShared.dll file that was referenced in another thread.

But now I am getting a crash when scanning for channels, not while doing the EPG Update. I am still using the patched NTShared.dll file.

I also captured all of the running processes using Process Monitor. It looks like something is causing a Buffer Overflow.

System: Windows 10 64-bit clean install.
NextPVR Version: 3.7.7
TV Signal Sources: 2 x SiliconDust HDHomerun Prime with Cable Cards – These were successfully channel scanned, but now NPVR crashes when scanning these also.
TV Signal Source: 1 x SiliconDust HDHomeRun Extend. I have not been able to scan channels for this device.

HomeRun Setup has successfully scanned the channels. HomeRun Viewer can view all channels on the Prime and the Extend.

The attached zip file contains. The ProcMon capture, the NPVR.log, the Event Viewer entry, crash.mdmp, and a screenshot of the crash. Please let me know if you need more info.

The channel list that displays as a right-click option does not show up anymore. I'm not sure if its trying to display out of view somewhere OR if I somehow did something that doesn't allow it to display at all. Any suggestions would be nice.

Being and old ReplayTV guy (I'm both old and a former ReplayTV user, just gave away my last 2 working units), I was used to having the ability to have a "theme" recording setup. For instance, I could setup a record with the words "Sherlock Holmes" and it would record every TV show having those exact letters in the title. For instance, "Sherlock Holmes in Washington". When I setup that recording I would also indicate how much storage space (in hours) to allocate to it. It worked great. I'd just turn on my system in the morning and be happy to find a new "Sherlock Holmes" movie recorded.
While I now have a complete collection of all of Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes movies, it would sure be nice to setup a "theme" so I could automatically record a specific movie that might come on in the future. Like "Goldfinger". That way I wouldn't have to be doing searches all the time.

It seems like searchlite might be able to do this, but I haven't figured out how to do it. Maybe someone on this forum could point me in the right direction.
I'd appreciate ant help that might be offered.
