  EPG Update via OTA aborts
Posted by: herringj - 2016-09-09, 04:47 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

I am trying to get OTA EPG updates.
when I run it via settings->channels->Update EPG, it runs but I get an abort error in the NPVR log and in windows app event log. see attached log files and windows event logs. When this happens windows reports (via dialog box) "NextPVR has stopped working" and then aborts the settings app.
BTW the NPVR client is NOT running.

I have read the FAQs. I tried w & wo "update during live TV". the update during live TV seems to not crash.

I have 3 Hauppage tuners (1 single and 1 dual).

I am running NPVR 3.7.7 on Windows 10.

thoughts/suggestions?

John

  Help with NextEnd
Posted by: CDinger - 2016-09-09, 02:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I'm new to NextPVR, yet another Windows Media Center convert after upgrading? to Windows 10. I'm having 2 problems but specifically want to address NextEnd here. I downloaded NextEnd from the NextEnd Wiki and installed. I then created ParallelProcessing.bat with 3 lines (see below). I use Comskip in a PostProcessing.bat to identify and skip commercials which is working great. I have Kodi installed and configured but I really only record and then watch OTA TV so lately I have just been using NextPVR to record and watch recordings. Last nights Broncos vs Panthers game I missed the last several minutes of the game as the recording ended before the game was over.

@echo off
start /b "" "%PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\NPVR\NextEnd.exe" --oid %3
start /b "" "%PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\NPVR\NextEnd.exe" --sunday

Did I do something wrong or is there something I missed in the setup?

In case my problem is related, here is the my other issue. I tried to install the closed captioning patch mentioned here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post505922. Norton didn't like the file and deleted it as I tried to install and I didn't pursue it beyond that. I believe it was right after that when NextPVR didn't make any recordings for 2 days. I finally figured out the recording service wasn't running. Not being very computer savvy I reinstalled NextPVR hoping that would fix it and last night being the first it did work properly except for NextEnd. I changed the recovery option in services to restart the recording service for first, second and subsequent failures.

Hopefully I have made an appropriate post and thanks in advance for any help,

Craig

FF slow after 2 hour time mark
Posted by: dslowik - 2016-09-09, 03:29 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I've been running version 3.6.6 for quite awhile with no problems, but noticed a problem this weekend when fast forwarding through a 3.5 hour recording. Anytime that I either FF past the 2 hour mark or watched it past 2 hours and then FF, it took what seemed to be a minute to resume playing at the new location. I upgrade to 3.7.7 and it made no difference. The program was recorded on with NPVR using a HDHR4-2US . I attached logs.
In these logs I did the following.

Started NPVR and the show College Football_20160903_19002230.ts
21:43:22 skip 35 minutes
21:44:07 skip 35 minutes
21:44:50 skip 35 minutes
21:45:14 skip 35 minutes
It was roughly a minute before it started playing again. All other skipping jumped to the correct location and started playing immediately.

  All Recordings deleted! :-(
Posted by: Asher - 2016-09-08, 08:22 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

I've been using nPVR for 7 years and it's always been fantastic.

On Tuesday 6/9/16 ALL of my recordings (well over 130 recordings for 55 different shows, approximately 1.2TB of disk) were all deleted.
Looking at logs, the deletion appeared to commence around 1830. Nobody was using the media center at the time.

I thought it was a one-off, and probably related to the fact that I set up Plex that day.
I've checked settings and Plex does not have permission to delete files.

I decided it was a one-off and sadly used TVNZOD to watch a recent episode of something without the ability to skip through ads, and pondered the inevitable move to Netflix.

The scary news: It's not a one-off
Recordings from Tuesday night are gone.
Recordings from Wednesday night are gone.

The Wednesday night recordings were deleted at 1846.

How can I find out what's causing this?

How to record 2 channels at once
Posted by: elmo23 - 2016-09-08, 04:16 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Upgraded to Windows 10 and needed to replace Media Player as the DVR. I have an HD Homerun HDHR3-US Dual ATSC tuner. Have had it for a number of years. In Devices tab the ATSC tuners are priority 1 and 2. In the status tab they are all showing a 1 at the end of the description. I can only record 1 channel at a time. With Windows Media Player I was able to record 2 channels while playing back one. My needs are simple. I am just recording off the air signals on a laptop to watch at a later time.
How do i set it to record the second channel at the same time? Thanks in advance.

  advanced rules + OnlyNewEpisodes
Posted by: pBS - 2016-09-07, 06:46 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

I'm trying to make an advanced rule with OnlyNewEpisodes and it crashes...is there any way?
it works if i alter the exported recurring xml to include it...
"title like '%football%' and subtitle like '%texan%' and OnlyNewEpisodes"
or "... OnlyNewEpisodes = 'true' "
second one puts error in logs, first one nothing...neither one schedules anything..

if it isn't currently possible, can ability to select OnlyNewEpisodes for advanced rules be added?

  Import M3u Playlist No Names
Posted by: iTzturrtlex - 2016-09-07, 04:32 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

When I import an M3u playlist into the IPTV tuner. It works perfectly but it doesn't import the names for the channels automatically. Where as kodi's iptv simple client can do this perfectly.

Live TV not showing in Kodi Menu
Posted by: GarryD6 - 2016-09-07, 08:43 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hi,

I am trying to migrate from Windows Media Centre to Kodi with NextPVR for TV.

I am running Windows 7 with 2 x Hauppage TV cards and have downloaded/installed Kodi and NextPVR. I have configured NextPVR and EPG can view live TV on Next PVR.

I have enabled TV in Kodi and selected NextPVR as PVR and checked no other PVR is enabled. Server IP is still set as default which should be okay. Kodi does not import the channels or show TV as a option in the Kodi menu.

Other Kodi elements appear to be working fine and have set up weather etc..

I still have WMC on the same machine but stopped the WMC services and ensured NextPVR service is started and still no luck with Kodi. I have also uninstalled and re-installed both Kodi and NextPVR with no change.

I must be missing something but not sure what is stopping Kodi from starting with NextPVR front end - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does Windows Media Centre need to be completely uninstalled?

  Hard Drive Life
Posted by: crossnet - 2016-09-07, 02:19 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Just had my first HD failure. It was a 2TB WD Green drive with over 49,000 hours of operation. This unit was the video storage drive and has run 24/7 except for occasional maintenance. Testdisk found multiple errors and listed the cause as "old age".

The read errors occurred only on recent recordings. It was being defraged daily and probably writing over and over in the same region. All other files were fine and fully recovered. Its companion (1 TB WD Green) is even older, with 67,000 hours. I replaced both drives, this time with WD Blue 5400 rpm drives and looking for another 50k.

Does anyone else have data on drive life with NPVR?

RIP WD
