Cannot add UNC to Recording Directories
Posted by: JogG - 2016-08-29, 02:46 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi All,

I've been trying to find an answer to this all over the net, but still no luck.

Here is my issue. I am trying to add Network Attached Storage to my NextPVR install under Windows 10. The drive has plenty of space for all the stuff I want to record. When I initially installed NextPVR, it took forever to get my computer to show the NAS under the Windows NETWORK tree. I could easily map the NAS to a drive letter, but it would not come up under the Windows NETWORK tree. After a bunch of fiddling the NAS showed up under the Windows NETWORK tree and I was able to add it as a Recording Directory.

It has worked fine for 6 months. Today the NAS no longer shows up under the Windows NETWORK tree. I have no idea why this happened. I've been Googling for the past 4 hours in search of a solution, and nothing.

I've read one post in the NextPVR forum that recommends using the UNC path in the Recording Directory section of settings. Unfortunately, this is only possible if the NAS is in the Windows NETWORK tree. When selecting the RECORDING directory, a dialog box is displayed and the user can only select what is in the dialog box. There is no method of manually inputing the UNC path to a drive. I was hoping I could add the Drive Letter I mapped out that is in Windows Explorer, but it does not stay in the RECORDING directory settings. NextPVR changes it back to the default setting on the Local Disk.

Can anyone guide me to a solution?

Kodi NextPVR Blue Screen of Death
Posted by: gtFlue - 2016-08-29, 12:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Which logs should I provide to see if there is any help in resolving my Kodi/NPVR crashing issue.

roughly 25 to 90 minutes after tuning in live ota channel or starting a recording my win7 64 system will freak-out and crash. Watching any video on kodi that was not recorder via NPVR never fails, watching any and all OTA live or DVR'ed programming on NPVR (front end, not through KODI) never fails. combine the two and I seem to be getting a crap sandwich. Sad Driving me bonkers.

Thanks.

NPVR cannot find channels on HDHomeRun Prime without cablecard
Posted by: hayeskl - 2016-08-29, 02:51 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I had everything working fine with NextPVR and Windows 10 until the anniversary update screwed up my computer. I had to do a reset but lost all of my NPVR settings. Now I am trying to remember how to setup the HDHomeRun Prime without a cablecard. It all works using the HDHomeRun Setup software and viewer, but NPVR cannot find any QAM channels. The only thing I could find searching the forums was to disable the firewall and antivirus which I had already tried but did not help. Since it was all working relatively recently, I'm sure I am forgetting something obvious. I have attached the logs from my last attempt.

Thanks.

NextPVR Client and Server, I cant get them to connect...
Posted by: gooroo - 2016-08-28, 07:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I have NextPVR setup on my HPmicroserver as a backend and Kodi on my HTPC with the NextPVR plugin and that is working.

I would like to try the NextPVR client on my HTPC but I cant get it to connect to the backend,

Under NEXTPVR/DEVICES on my HTPC I have Act as a Client ticked and my Server name "PROLIANT" entered in the server name text box, the database share is "\\PROLIANT\npvr", the Send WOL is also ticked.

I can ping "PROLIANT" from a dos prompt on the HTPC.

If I then choose LIVE TV on my client I get a msg, "No Channels have been setup, These can be setup on the settings>devices screen"

On that screen, it just says "initialising device scan", all the other buttons on this screen and grey except for OK/CANCEL

I am sure I am just missing something obvious!

Please help.

Regards, Simon

I should add, I am only wanting to try the NextPVR client as although Kodi with the NextPVR client is working, It sometimes freezes when watching live TV and I am trying to see if the issue is Next PVR or Kodi.

  Schedules Direct and Star Ratings
Posted by: jhyler - 2016-08-27, 09:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I'm a relative newbie still learning my way around NPVR. So far I'm really liking it, though I use TV Listings rather than TV Guide because seeing the star ratings in the guide is important to me.

I have been importing schedule data through zap2it via zap2xml. I've just tried Schedules Direct since it seems like it should be more convenient. The switchover was surprisingly easy, but then I noticed - no star ratings anymore.

Looking through the forum, I see references to something called "epgextra" that sounds like it would get the star ratings back, but the posts I found are old and the links to get to it don't work. Is this what I need?

Can someone point me at how to get star ratings into the EPG if my source is Schedules Direct? And if you have to do it indirectly through XMLTV, is there really any benefit to it over staying with zap2xml?

Thanks!

  event_details broken
Posted by: SteveTyrakowski - 2016-08-27, 04:36 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I have several records where Event_details is generating an error message and it is likely why my recurring recordings no longer work as well. I also cannot export recordings successfully if I wanted to start over with a new install.

Here is an example of the error:

2016-08-24 02:51:43.794 [ERROR][14] Unexpected error parsing EPGEvent xml: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at NUtility.EPGEvent.Parse(String xml)
2016-08-24 02:51:43.794 [ERROR][14] xml:
<Event><Oid>1000205</Oid><Title>Grandfathered</Title><SubTitle>s01e04.Deadbeat</SubTitle><Description>2015-10-20: After Jimmy misses Edie's second birthday party, he decides to throw her a big bash at his restaurant to make it up to the family. When Sara's brother shows up, he brings the party to a screeching halt by confronting Jimmy about leaving Sara to raise Gerald on her own.</Description><ChannelOID>7763</ChannelOID><StartTime>2015-10-21T06:09:00.0000000Z</StartTime><EndTime>2015-10-21T07:09:00.0000000Z</EndTime></Event>

I have a few hundred of these that I want to fix.

Brief history: I tried to edit the event_details of one recording of Saturday Night live where they aired a Prince tribute after he died and the Guide data had some repeat episode, so I wanted to have the correct description in the database. Well I ran the SQL update and stupidly forgot the "WHERE OID = nnn" clause trashing every record. I asked for help too late and the backup copies of the recordings had rolled past a salvageable version. I did have a backup of the npvr.db3 file that was a few months old so I was able to salvage about 80% of the data.

I then used vidImport to get descriptions of the files I had in my recordings directory and wrote a program to update the event_details on the bad records. I was able to fix the filenames of all my records but apparently the data I constructed for event_details is missing something.

If you can give me a clue what is wrong with the entry above, I can probably fix the other records. I have tried to attached the full log zip file but I am getting an error so I only zipped the Nrecord.log file and attached it.

Thanks for any direction you can give me.

  Add-on Crashing Kodi in Ubuntu
Posted by: crackulator - 2016-08-26, 05:09 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (3)

On my installation, the NextPVR addon crashes Kodi incessantly. The amount of time it takes to crash is pretty random; as soon as a minute or two, sometimes 10 or 15 minutes. It doesn't matter if I'm watching TV or not; if the app is enabled, it will crash Kodi before too long. It makes the addon basically unusable. If I disable TV in the Kodi settings, there are no crashes. I think it may be related to accessing the server through the internet; client is at a remote site, accessing the server through the internet.

I think the problem started when I upgraded to Kodi 16; before that, there were no problems. I'm on an Ubuntu platform, was on 14.04, but have updated since to 16 and still see the crashes.

Present versions:
Kodi: 16.1
NextPVR addon: 1.12.17
Ubuntu: 16.04 LTS 64-bit
Hardware: ASUS Chromebox, Intel Celeron 2955U @ 1.40 GHz, Intel Haswell Mobile Graphics
TV Tuner: SiliconDust HDHomeRun

I have it running on two other boxes also using Ubuntu 14.04 and have no problems. The most unique thing about this particular platform is that it is accessing the NextPVR server through the internet; the other two boxes are on my home network along with the server and tuner. I believe I have seen similar crashes on the Android platform when accessing the server through the internet as well.

I'm attaching the Kodi crashlog. If there are other logs that would be valuable, let me know and I can send them along. I've looked at the regular Kodi logs, and they don't seem to say anything (to my view), Kodi just disappears.

Any help would really be appreciated... especially with football season coming... I don't want to abandon NextPVR, but am near to that point.

  Stuttering audio on some channels
Posted by: MJEFisher - 2016-08-26, 08:32 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (35)

Good morning - I hope I've supplied enough information to get help from the experts Smile

SYSTEM:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
2 x SKNET MonsterX3 BDA DVB-T tuners which are getting the signal via rooftop aerial
[terrestrial broadcast from the Sutton Coldfield mast, West Midlands, UK]
NVPR 3.7.7 with 11 channels the same on both tuners [copied across automatically by NVPR]
EPG set up correctly

PROBLEM:

[1] The 6 'radio' channels have stuttering audio when I live stream them
[Channels: BBC radio 2, 3, 4, 4Extra, 6 & World Service]

[2] But if I record a radio channel that stutters it doesn't stutter in playback

[3] The 5 'TV' channels are perfect streaming live video & perfect streaming live audio with no stutter at all
[Channels: BBC 1, 2, 4, BBC News & Film4]

BACKGROUND:

I used Windows Media Center to live stream & record for a few years with no problems
[Same PC, same cards, same channels & same broadcast mast & aerial]
I decided to try NPVR + Kodi because WMC is slow, poorly designed & no plugins really
So I disabled WMC in Windows & set up NPVR + Kodi

WHAT I'VE TRIED:

Firewall & AV exceptions
Moving the buffer directory location
All the different decoders available to me in NPVR on my system
Closed Kodi & the stuttering still happens on 'radio' when using just NPVR
Downloaded, installed the SAF file & rebooted - no improvement

LOGS:

[1] "BBC1TV" = No problem live streaming BBC1 TV
[2] "Radio4extra" = Stuttering audio
[3] "AfterSAFinstall" = no improvement

Thank you!
MJEF

NextPVR - Crashes with every Update EPG operation
Posted by: guyinco6nito - 2016-08-25, 09:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

Hello All,

I'm just starting with NextPVR, and I'm very excited so far! I'm running into an issue where every time I go into Settings -> Channels, and hit Update EPG, it runs through the scans, and then crashes.

When this happens the NPVR Settings window is stuck at "Updating recording schedule". Windows 10 reports that "NextPVR has stopped working" and my only option is to Close Program.
The logs (Attached) seem to indicate that an UnhandledExceptionHandler has been caught: Object reference not sent to an instance of an object.

I've looked through the logs, and it seems to be running a scan on the ATSC channel I receive called "Hero" and then it just crashes.

Details about my setup:
-Windows 10 x64 server
-Two HDHomeRun HDHR-US (the 1st generation ones)
-ATSC Over the Air, somehow I get like 28 channels!
-Running NPVR locally on a server, then using Kodi on a Windows10 x64 client to connect to that server for live tv and recording scheduling
When I go into the NextPVR program on my server, and launch Live TV I can tune all the channels (even Hero) just fine. Sometimes the TV Guide shows partial data for certain channels, but after these crashes the TV Guide is missing from NextPVR.

Thanks for any tips you can provide!
Have good ones,
-guyinco6nito

(thanks sub) requires 3.8.3 160926+
- X-NEWA added significance field 3.8.3 160929+
- X-NEWA previous search results are saved
- Estuary skin PKSCOUT version - enable in Setting
- support's sub's m3u8 streaming functions configure resolution and bit rate in Setting
- got PVR streaming option working again
- more info on player OSD
- some bug fixes
- timeshift mode now records and delete
- hdhr mode - play live tv directly from hdhr
- support's sub's m3u8 streaming functions for recordings
- improved sid handling
