I have an issue running NextPVR on Ubuntu where one of the frequencies is failing to scan.
I've tested it using dvbv5-scan and a 30 sec timeout and it does then scan the channels OK.
The issue isn't signal strength as the other frequencies are a similar or even lesser strength, it just seems that the service on the problem frequency is slower to enumerate(?).
I don't really understand how iptv recording works so i may be barking up the wrong tree...
i use the mjh m3u8 playlists to watch and/or record live ,free iptv....
ive had a recurring problem where the recordings fail with "recording interrupted" and a few other issues that i don't want to trouble anyone with here...
....it seems like if there is a glitch in the stream, it causes the recording to fail.
now...i have tried using ffmpeg command line on a few recordings, and it seems to be able to handle the glitches - you can see it as warnings in the scrolling logs....
but the resultant .ts file comes out complete.
hence the question - is there a way to pipe all the channels in a m3u8 playlist to go through ffmpeg first? (i'd like to see if ffmpeg can help out with glitchy channel streams)
Ive tried putting the mjh playlist .m3u8 into an 'extras.xml' but it does not show any channels...(admittedly i got the code lines to do it from AI slop)
I would be prepared to manually put all the channels in the extras file, if thats the way to do it, but i'm lazy and wondering if there is another way?
Overnight, a scheduled recording is reported as successful, but in fact the .ts file is only 28Mb and is not playable (with VLS for NPVR). It's on a channel that has worked fine before, and it has the timestamp when it was due to end, so it looks like it didn't fail (e.g. loss of signal) and was truncated
I'm trying to understand the benefit of using NextPVR in conjunction with Dish Network (or similar service).
When I started with NextPVR years ago I had a cable card, which was a very sweet arrangement.
Recently I've been playing with an IPTV service, which is a legally gray area at best.
I'd like to go fully legit, but if I do go with Dish would I still get any benefit from NextPVR?
I tried the OTA route but my location makes that impossible.
I have a AVM Fritzbox cable router which provides 4 IPTV devices. Nextpvr finds all four devices correctly. In the past with NextPVR version 6.x scanning for channels worked very well, but now after I had to re-install my server the NextPVR scan fails (version 7.x). The port 8866 is set correctly.
When scanning the German Full Cable Spectrum (6.900MBd SR, QAM 256) the letters [PAT] [PMT] [SDT] [BAT] do appear from time to time and my Fritzbox GUI in parallel displays that a client is watching a certain TV channel, but none of these channels gets stored by NextPVR - so the list remains empty and NextPVR finally shows "0 channels found".
