So I should preface this with a bit of a disclaimer, i am new to this, all I have used is windows media center but i decided it is finally time to upgrade, so if I'm posting this in the wrong place, or i am being just in general stupid please tell me and I am sorry in advance.
So anyway now that i have declared that I'm most likely just an idiot, I use zap2it.com to update my epg with zap2xml and an interesting thing that I have found that occurs is they add a " *" (space and then an asterisk) after the titles of "new shows which causes nextpvrs automated recording not to catch them which is a problem. If i set up my recordings to just be the shows with the asterisks then i will get all the new show but if i miss one it will never record the rerun, and if i only record the reruns then it may be months later before i catch some of the shows that I wish to watch. I could also record both but that would lead to two separate folders and a lot of wasted hard drive space.
So now my question is, is there a way to fix this either by some setting in nextpvr, or creating some batch code that would run after the xml file was created and just delete all the " *" in the xml file, or is there a better epg updater i should be using because zap2xml takes about half an hour to get 14 days of programming which is insane, granted it creates a very large xml file, and another thing with zap2xml it needs to be run as an administrator so when nextpvr auto updates its epg listings it will not run properly and therefor i have task scheduler set up to run it every 3 days.
I have several shows which start and record for 1 minute, then end. 21.59 June 27th This old house is a good example. I use schedules direct and did not have an issue on the previous release. My settings for the artwork are attached.
I had the tuners set up and working fine, but was having trouble trying to record TV. was trying different things with the NAS (network attached server) where recordings are supposed to save to the hard drive. then all tuners disappeared from NPVR Devices. This occurred on NPVR version 3.6.6. I upgraded to the latest (3.7.7 ??) and still no luck. I use HD Homerun tuners. I re-scanned. I checked firewall, and the three NPVR-related files are in incoming & outgoing firewall settings as enabled. I ran filtercheck.exe, and the HD Homerun devices are there, but not associated with "capture". I've attached filtercheck log, npvr logs and data files.
Assuming I get this fixed, any ideas why it says it is recording a show, but then no files are on the NAS, and no shows are available on Recordings?
When I press the record button on a live TV show, the show records but is placed in the buffer directory folder instead of the recording directories folder. Not sure if this is by design, but I thought all recordings were stored in the recording directory. If you need logs I can forward them to you, but is happening on both systems.
In the new 3.7.7 release, I can use a mouse in the outer menus just fine, but once a video starts to play I can't click on the on-screen buttons or in the timeline bar. This was working fine in the prior version. Anyone else seeing this issue?
Upgraded last night and so far (mostly) so good. Only hiccup is the new web admin (which looks great!) is the guide shows no data or channels. If I use the classic it has all my channels and guide data, not in the new one though. New one shows recent recordings, available, etc. But no guide data and also on the home screen it shows nothing under available disk space or upcoming recordings.
Now, Recordings and Scheduler all seem to work fine.
I recently renewed my Schedules Direct subscription, but guide data is ok so I don't think that is related.
I've "emptied" and "updated" (don't remember the exact term) the guide data in the settings, rebooted and none of it seemed to help. I schedule almost exclusively through the web admin.
Logs are zipped and attached!
I appreciate the help or assistance anyone can provide!
Thank you!
Jake
I have installed 3.7.7 on my client PC that uses a server running 3.6.6. All seems well except that the client shows no entries on the Recurring Recording screen as it does on the server. In fact, all other client Recording screens(Ready, What's New, Pending and Conflicts) show correct information that matches the server perfectly.
Is this a problem or am I not allowed to mix client/server versions?
The Modern Web Interface is not displaying any information in TV Guide, just blank screen with banner at top. NextPVR, Now, Recordings, Scheduler menus all displaying correctly. Classic Interface displays programs in TV Guide. I use Schedules Direct for EPG.
>clicking poster artwork will do an artwork search, giving you the option to choose another match. This should help when the auto artwork got the wrong images.
Should this work from the recordings screen? I've clicked on the pictures there and in the web UI, but nothing happens. The wife likes to watch the TV show "Reign". The artwork that got automagically selected is titled "Reign of the Dinosaurs".
