I dont determine the file duration myself. Directshow does this for me.

You may find that just installing a third party mp3 directshow filter corrects the playback and duration problem (instead of relying on the Microsoft one).

I've emailed you over an example to support@devnz.com. Let me know if you don't get it.

Thanks

Cheers.

I just tried the file you sent, and surely enough it also wont play with the standard directshow filters (using graphedit.exe). I'll take a closer look to see if I can see the problem.

These files seem to play fine via the GB-PVR MVP client, so its something directshow doesnt like about the files.

Even in WMP the duration is reported incorrectly for the larger of the two files you sent. It says its 30 seconds long but keeps playing after that.

I have “Cdex version 1.51” to rip my music in bitrate 320, no VBR.
And I can’t played in GBPVR by in Win MP its go.
I have also 192 bitrate MP3 and have no problem wed that.
I have version 09108 of GBPVER.

Whet are I doing wrong?

I was wondering if anyone has actually found the root cause of this problem yet? I noticed it was mentioned in another thread also. I've just started using gb-pvr and I'm pretty impressed so far, but having random MP3s that won't play just kinda irks me...

Sub: you mentioned you tried playing the questionable MP3s in graphedit and couldn't get them to play there either? Well I've been able to play my questionable file in graphedit (and winamp), but windows media player gives me an error. What filters were you using to render the mp3s when you got graphedit to fail?

Has anyone else out there had any luck replacing the windows mp3 filter with a third party one?

Cheers,
steve

That was over a year ago. I cant remember.

I dont think many people have ever encountered this or we would have heard alot more about it and resolved it by now.

I had problems with MP3s not playing, apparently WMP has problems with some Id3v2 tags, couldn't get graphedit to render them either, but found a solution - works fine after installing and running register.bat

Had similar problem with lossless APE files (Monkey's audio) even though I had APE in the GBPVR config for My Music - similar solution, install and run register.bat
