If you haven't already implemented it and if I can be so cheeky, and if I am not talking out of the top of my head, may I suggest an Application.DoEvents() call inside your loop

Just let the update occur overnight like every one else, then you dont need to worry about any of this. This was never really intended to be the main way the EPG was updated.

Ah, that is the way I had been doing it.

The reason for the post was because I wrote a small tray app (SlimmGBPVR) that allowed you to manually call the update epg and whenever I used it, it looked like it had crashed. I disabled the option in my utility. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong in the way I called it. Thanks to your help it is clear that the behaviour is expected and so I enabled the option in my utility again.
