Hi fellow NZ'ders. Question on how you guys get around this.

If I see some ad on a Wednesday for a show that I think, yeah I want to record that. How do you guys do it??

Because we live in such a backwards country, the 2 epg feeds I know of, mr.geek.nz and reven's xmltvnz can only access 5 days worth of data so I can't schedule that program.

I know I could put in a manual recording, but one of the best features of having a EPG based recorder is you can just set it up, and at the end of the shows season it will just magically stop recording it, where with one of those VCR things you have to remember to stop it...oh and change tapes (ha ha that's so 1985!!!)

Any ideas peoples???

I've got listings out to next Friday. Pretty much a week. I'm using xmltvnz.

I think one of the add on utilities Jorm or Kingargyle wrote allows you to put a name in a XML file or something. Personally, if my listings didnt yet have a show listed, I'd just remember schedule it tomorrow (or whenever) or write myself a note. I dont like the idea of guessing the exact name of show as it will eventually be published in the guide, on the off-chance I'll get it slightly wrong and the show wont be recorded.

Which feeds do you use in your batch file, I think I use all the sky ones and don't specify any times.

My last day of guide data is Tuesday about 11pm to 12am is all starts running out.

xmlTVNZ can get any amount of days you would like, i just set the default to 5, its more reliable that way. otherwise you run the risk of having empty days. you could set it to about 10 days for most of sky (c4 and maori might start showing up empty) and tv1/2/3 you could probably do about 8-10 days.

im like sub though, i just remember to record it, of course i only record tv shows which are on as season record. for movies i just buy the dvds...

I'm using:

Quote:xmltvnz c:\downloads\xmltvnz\tvguide.xml -days 7 C:\downloads\xmltvnz\tvguide.xml tv1 tv2 sky_tv3 c4 sky_uktv sky_sky1 prime sky_e sky_living sky_sport1 sky_sport2 sky_rugby sky_movies1 sky_movies2 sky_mgm sky_rialto sky_disney sky_cartoon sky_nickelodeon sky_discovery sky_natgeo sky_animalplanet sky_history sky_skynews sky_bbcworld sky_cnn

My listings go out to Thursday 29th, about 11pm.

oh ok, I just thought xmltvnz defaulted to 5 cos that's all there was. I know mr.geek only has a max on 6 days on his.

Yeah I should just remember shouldn't I. Pity we can't get 2 week like the americans.

Oh well, at least I learn't something.
