Appreciate your continuing support. The 77 result shows the breaks (3) accurately but I could not get 79 to pick up the middle break. Hope the attached files are useful. Happy to do more testing for you if needed.

A very interresting example indeed. Glad you did send this!!!!

Your ini file for version 77 can be used successfully for version 79 with these changes:

Change:
min_show_segment_length=120
This to ensure the show between two commercials is not regarded as also commercial because its shorter then the minimum show segment length

Add:
excessive_length_modifier=1
This because excessive length is no longer a clue towards show because you have no blackframes inside a commercial break

If you have reliable logo (it seems that way) you can consider setting
cut_on_ar_change=1
to add some more aggressiveness in cutting out commercials and teasers
If you see to little black frames consider increasing the non_uniformity. Your 79 version ini file had a too low value of 250, you can increase in steps of 250. A value between 500 and 1000 seems right.

Can you send me some other .csv files like this one including the correct .txt file so I can add them to my regression test setup?
Below you will find the ini from version 77 updated for version 79
Code:
detect_method=43    ;1=black frame, 2=logo, 4=scene change, 8=fuzzy logic, 16=closed captions, 32=aspect ration, 255=all
verbose=10        ;show a lot of extra info, level 5 is also OK, set to 0 to disable
max_brightness=60      ;frame not black if any pixels checked are greater than this (scale 0 to 255)
test_brightness=40      ;frame not pure black if any pixels checked are greater than this, will check average brightness (scale 0 to 255)
max_avg_brightness=20    ;maximum average brightness for a dim frame to be considered black (scale 0 to 255) 0 means autosetting
max_commercialbreak=600 ;maximum length in seconds to consider a segment a commercial break
min_commercialbreak=10    ;minimum length in seconds to consider a segment a commercial break
max_commercial_size=220    ;maximum time in seconds for a single commercial or multiple commercials if no breaks in between
min_commercial_size=4   ;mimimum time in seconds for a single commercial

min_show_segment_length=120         ; any segment longer than this will be scored towards show.
excessive_length_modifier=1

non_uniformity=500
max_volume=500        ; any frame with sound volume larger than this will not be regarded as black frame
intelligent_brightness=0 ;
delete_logo_file=0    ; set to 1 if you want comskip to tidy up after finishing
output_framearray=1    ; create a big excel file for detailed analysis, set to 0 to disable
connect_blocks_with_logo=1    ; set to 1 if you want successive blocks with logo on the transition to be regarded as connected, set to 0 to disable
logo_percentile=0.92    ; if more then this amount of logo is found then logo detection will be disabled
logo_threshold=0.70
aggressive_logo_rejection=0
cut_on_ar_change=0    ; set to 1 if you want to cut also on aspect ratio changes, set to 0 to disable
delete_show_after_last_commercial=1; delete the last block if its a show and after a commercial
delete_show_before_or_after_current=1
shrink_logo=0    ; Reduce the duration of the logo with this amount of seconds
output_videoredo=0
output_womble=0
output_mpgtx=0
output_zoomplayer_chapter=0
output_zoomplayer_cutlist=0
padding=0
live_tv=0

Why don't you send me a .csv and a good .txt for both channels and an ini file you would like to use (or I can start from the default) and I will have a look

Wedgie, there is a separate forum (GENERAL) for discussions on the quality of the programs we try to record with GBPVR

Thanks, Erik. That did the trick. I will use that ini file in the "production" directory and see what I get. Will report back. Will also get you some more examples.

Psycik, recorded from std FTA aerial (TV1).

And, Wedgie, go and play in your sandpit - this forum is for adults.

Two example files for you, Erik.
Using the same ini file seems to produce very similar results, now.

Cheers.

Lindsay,

The last part of the previous show is not remove because your min_commercialbreak is set very low so the short block from 5101 till 5464 is assumed to be a real commercial break instead of a short interprogram break.

May I suggest you set
min_commercialbreak=30

The coronation street recording has a long commercial break between the previous show and the actual show (do you use a lot of prepadding during recording?) I could add a "delete show before first commercial" option if it would make sense.

Logo detection seems to have some problems. Is "Everything must go Bristol" having anything particular?

Because of the unreliable logo detection the heuristics to delete the part of the previous show is disabled. I can change that but this will be high risk.
Better is an improved logo detection.
