40% is pretty good for using PureVideo.. if you really need the extra CPU power, try dropping down to VMR7, or take the bitrate down a bit.

Here's the link for the Hauppauge Tweak Tool: http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/pvr_tweak.html

any nVidia users out there, does ANYONE else have problems with the TV-out becoming black and white with any recent ForceWare drivers? I had to rollback all the way to 5303 to get color again on my fx5200. I swear it worked with 81.98 back when I was running XP SP1..

I'm using the latest 84.21 driver ok with component-out. I am aware of TV-out problems on the 81.xx drivers. I take it you have checked the Nvidia tv-out mode is set correctly (composite/s-video/component).

Hi,

csy Wrote:I took this one step further with the Purevideo decoder. I found that "Best Available" only uses BOB deinterlacing, but by adjusting the Purevideo settings during use (as per the Purevideo user guide) gives you the VMR deinterlacing options. "VMR Default" deinterlacing option will give you hardware advanced temporal/spatial deinterlacing which is far superior to BOB deinterlacing (note this setting will probably be already selected, but DOES need to be saved for it to become operational). This applies to both Nvidia and ATI video cards.

Where do I see the VMR deinterlacing options?

Thanks,

The VMR deinterlace options become available when you use DXVA+VMR. So configure PureVideo for Hardware Acceleration ticked, and Prefer VMR9, and configure GBPVR to VMR9 renderer and run it once. Now the VMR deinterlace options will be seen in the PureVideo properties.

Tip1 - when the VMR options are seen in the properties for the first time, it does not mean you are actually using that VMR option until you "apply" that setting.

Tip2 - If you wish to change PureVideo settings "on the fly" using the PureVideo icon in the tasktray, - that icon only appears if the PureVideo decoder is the default Directshow filter and GBPVR is configured to use "default" decoders.

Thanks I will try these things, although I doubt if they can help me (see other post).
