Yep - I have to have focus when I manually start the MVP server also.

I really want the focus issue to work but I also want the MVP too.
Maybe I can run the MVP without GB-PVR.Sad

I've also tried 2 different USB-UIRTS and HIP but have had poor results with both.

Any other ideas out there?

Anyone else using a MVP along with having their GB-PVR setup as dualscreen with a monitor and TV and not having a focus issue?

Thanks,
GaretMax

I think I finally found the problem which for me was a conflict with the media MVP. I'm wondering if the people that don't have mvp's just don't have the focus problem when they revise irremote.ini.

I just put my mvp number of servers to autostart to 0 and now I can use my remote for GB-PVR without focus.

I vaguely remember someone saying that the MVP uses the same class? name but didn't really know what it meant. Can the mvp class name be something different?
0={findwnd(,GB-PVR)}{SendMsg(32771,192,0)}

I'll have to do some more testing especially since I still want to use my MVP on another TV. It always seemed so strange that some people have no focus problem and others like me can never get it to work.

Was this the real problem?

I modified my irremote.ini to include just the first line in the general section:

GRNPOWER={run(c:\progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe)}. The instruction I had been given included more text about sleeping. However, since I don't understand what the usefulness of sleeping is, I didn't include it. Note that you may have to write "program files" out in full if you have 2 directories starting with the same name in the C: directory.

I don't have any clients yet or a MVP (still not sure if they are the same thing) and the green power button regains focus everytime. There was even one interesting time when I regained focus and was able to navigate the menus, then a family member using the computer for looking at pictures took it back, I regained focus again, etc. such that we effectively had multitasking a tthe same time! There are other remote fixes that use the tab key etc. but they work on various assumptions that may not be true all the time. Is the MVP problem that you need the "green power button" to work another application. If so, you could always choose another button. The problem here is that sometimes 45 buttons isn't enough. I have set my my "Go" button to change the ratio aspect (the F7 feature) if it accidentally gets changes. However this means when I use ShowSearch, I can't search all the movies at the same time; I have to search "abc", then "def", etc. Thus if you change a button globally, you want to make sure you can live with giving up what the button might otherwise do if you didn't change it.

did you see rbelisle post of 11-10-2006, 10:51 PM
"I had done some searching on what you can do in the IRREMOTE.INI file and came across the attached document. It lists all of the commands and syntax for the file. This is a great starting spot for customizing things. I have done a few things with my file, so if you have a particular request, I would be happy to help." The zipped file explains a lot about what you can do with the irremote.ini file. I just don't know if and how I can zip it here.

p.s. I am assuming that getting the remote to regain focus to access the menus is the same as getting it to work without focus.

Actually that's exactly what I had all of the time which I'm trying to avoid.

No - I've always been able to use the green button to get the focus back to GB-PVR on the 2nd display but lose focus as soon as someone uses the computer on the primary display of my dualscreen setup. I want to be able to control GB-PVR on my 2nd display without affecting someone on the first primary display and vice-versa.

Here's a quote from Emil earlier in this posting.
Quote:Graham's ini do work, if you close this web page. I'm not sure of how exactly this 'findwnd' command works, but if you have these forums open, it will find this window and as a result you can scroll it up and down with your remote. It could be a Internet Explorer thing, not sure. So, for me it works as soon as I close this page.

This happens now for me also for some reason, when I have the GB-PVR forums open, the hauppauge remote scrolls these forum webpages everytime. If I close this forum page and go to other sites I don't have this problem. I'm guessing there are other sites that I'll have problems with this but haven't seen any yet. What could be causing this?

It still appears that the MVP classname was the main problem for my setup. I'm running the MVP without GB-PVR now but that interface is awefull:eek: so I'm still looking for a fix to run my MVP with GB-PVR and not have a focus issue.

I think I found the problem on the scrolling webpage which really isn't a big deal since its probably just these 2 websites.

The GB-PVR main site, http://www.gbpvr.com/, also scrolls when I have it open so I'm figuring the problem is that the name of the site has "GB-PVR" which is getting called out by the findwindow command in the irremote.ini. Interestingly, the wiki doesn't have "GB-PVR" but has "GBPVR" and so doesn't scroll.
