Just bought a brand new WINTV-PVR-150. I finished installing it and the tv functionality works great. However, I cannot get the remote to work at all. I have tried all of the steps in the manual as well as on Hauppauge's web site to no avail. I have tried the newest beta version of IRBlaster, tried new batteries, made sure the remote jack is completely seated in the card, rebooted several times, and made sure the remote is pointing directly at the receiver. Any suggestions??

Sorry for the asking the obvious -
  1. Did you configure GBPVR to use the Hauppauge remote?
  2. Did you click the "Fix Hauppauge 45-button remote"?
  3. Did you try the option to directly access the Hauppauge remote?
  4. Do you have the IR application icon in the system tray?
  5. Does it work with WinTV?

The remote plug has a wedge on one side because the connector on the card's backplane is very close to the edge. On my system, pressing firmly wasn't enough, the wedge had to be aligned with the edge of the slot to make it all the way in.

Make sure you have no conflicts in the Windows device manager for the Hauppauge card specifically in the resources tab.

Quit all WinTV and GB-PVR type applications that may talk to the remote directly. Do a "Restart IR" from the Start menu. In a DOS box type "notepad debug.txt" and make sure notepad has focus. Pressing buttons on the remote should display in notepad all the names of the buttons that are being pressed. This is the simplest way to find out exactly what the IR software is doing.

FYI for anyone else having thish problem. I spoke with Hauppauge support and they determined it to be a bad IR cable. They shipped me a new cable, I plugged it in, and it worked like a charm!
