See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

I have just posted this query about saving the config file and not not added anything else to the basic info in error.

can someone throw any light on the cause for the config file not to save. Current changes to my system include. I recently downloaded MS Defender which might be the cause?

Has anyone come up with similar problems?

Use the forum search. Its been discussed lots of times in the past. Try searching for: Process performance counter is disabled

The search results do not seem to relate to the performance counter.

How is it re-enabled?

The search error I made was to enter the seach criteria "Process performance counter is disabled" in the google search engine and set it to look locally in GBPVR.

I only came up with 3 items and they appeared to only relate to the search criteria in their heading descriptions.

However, I discovered that there is a search local and run within the forums which as you quite rightly point out has loads of info about the subject.

I shall confirm when I have corrected the problem.

The Problem was corrected and it was such a long time ago that I dont remember how that was achieved. I do recall that the advice given regarding the dissabled counter related to windows 2000 and was not any help but I think I repaired XP. Needless to say this thread has no productive advise and I believe process would be best served if it was dumped. It would create space and avoid confusion.
