I'm fairly new to GBPVR after moving from BeyondTV and have tun into a annoying issue.

Every few days when I go to watch live tv the screen goes black for ~20sec then the video starts but is very jerky and unwatchable. The same thing happens if I try and watch a recorded show. I notice that the CPU usage is 90-100% when this happens.

If I restart GBPVR then the prblem goes away.

My system specs are :
- Athlon XP 1600
- Hauppauge 250PVR
- Geforce 5200
- 1GB DDR RAM

Can anyone give me a hand with this? As far as i can tell I have all the newest drivers.

Thanks!

The description does make me think drivers.

Maybe post your logs next time it happens, and I'll see if I can see any other possible cause.

Jerky playback sounds like the usual nVidia hardware acceleration problem.
But that usually comes with lower CPU usage. I am at a loss...
I think one of the users with the most experience with nVidia problems is csy - perhaps he can help.

This has happened to me in the past. It occured when I had deliberately selected a video decoder in GBPVR config, but directshow was unable to use it (unable to connect the pins on the graph), which resulted in a 20sec delay as Directshow switched to the default decoder. In my case the default decoder was FFDshow which drove the CPU to 100% and the system would hang.

My initial advise would be to ensure the drivers are up-to-date and try using different decoders. If you have FFDshow installed, then try uninstalling it. If none of that works, then you need to start diagnosing Directshow by installing a utility called GraphEdit and next time you encounter this event exit GBPVR and launch GraphEdit and open lastgraph.grf in the GBPVR program directory to see exactly what directshow filters (decoders, renderers, etc) you are using. This should show you what is going wrong.

I found these very same symptoms when running in preview mode, if the machine had been up a couple of days, if i tried to watch live tv on my pvr150 on a channel from my STB (coming in through composite), it would exhibit this same problem, untill I restarted the recording service.

No sure if it is similar....Didn't really get around it, switched to time shift mode. Doesn't happen when watching a channel through the coax (aerial) connection just composite.

Good stuff so far. I'll try some of the suggestions above.

I've attached my logs for Sub to peruse.

Thanks again!

Sorry, I dont know. I cant see anything obvious in the logs, so I'm sticking to my 'sounds like the drivers' comment.
