Sorry my answer was so vague but since the author doesn't give any useful information on why it could be a EG and Vista issue problem it is hard to diagnose a bind problem like this.

Some ideas

- run "netstat -an" to see if anything is listening on port 80
- check your anti-virus sometimes they provide internet suites that would stop applications from opening a socket
- turn your firewall back on, it should actually ask when EG starts
- review your firewall to see if you have unknowingly blocked EG
- check EG configuration to find it you are trying to bind to the right nic, maybe you copied something over you shouldn't have
- keep notes and post them back on the EG forums where I think the real permission error is.

Thanks Martin,

The error seems to have mysteriously disappeared, I need to test if the thing still works though.

Spoke too soon, but I think I know the culprit using the netstat command.

I did find this concerning ports 80/443 with SKYPE.

If I was to change the EG Webserver to another port, what would you reccomemnd I choose if I only use it on my LAN (a I use it to send a key from my MediaExtender Remote=>MediaExtender=>Internal Network=> HTPC=>EG=>USB-UIRT=> SetTopBox. Can I choose any port and do I still have to open up the port on the router if it is within my LAN?

Do you think it would be OK to use the WebAdmin Port 7647 for EG;s Webserver, (which is already open) (I did go back to EG, but wanted to ask about this port as it is known to GBPVR).

Thanks!

k.

I'd recommend changing Skype's port mvpmc is hardcoded to use 80. You'd have to use the message I described earlier in this thread with m3u file to change the port.

OK, thanks, I've changed Skypes Port. It struck me though, that the "Webserver" in EG is also using Port 80, as a default. Could this not also conflict with the hard-coded port 80 in mvpmc? (Seems to work OK atm, but then the mvp is not on.)

There won't be a problem inbound and outbound ports are totally different things.
