Sub,

I'm happily using RedRat, it's working like a charm using the basic channel changer dll. I'd realy like you to continue to develop the redrat IR blaster....

Rather than start a new one I thought I would resurrect this old thread of mine to bring up the subject of redrat.dll version; it contains some relevant history.
It seems that the redrat.dll supplied with GBPVR is the only one that can be used as upgrading it with a newer ones gives a mismatch n GBPVR. This had not been a problem before but could be now as the newest firmware (0.33) for the redrat requires a later version of the dll (as I found out when upgrading the firmware to fix an intermittent problem and finding it stopped working, so now had to downgrade it).

Sub, is it possible to allow any version of the dll to be used by GBPVR without the mismatch?

I could switch to using the exe channel changer with the redrat control software but this adds an extra link in the chain that I would prefer to avoid if possible.
(N.B. the latest dll comes with the 0.33 firmware upgrade in the support section of the redrat website. I am not certain if this is downward compatible with earlier firmware though but I doubt it).

Thanks

Its currently set to not require a specific version. I havnt tried it with later versions though. If they've changed it too much, then it might reject it.

Just checked again by copying over the latest dll. The channel changing fails and I get this error in the recordingserviceexe log. This appears to indicate it is looking for the shipped GBPVR version.

Quote:2008-09-30 21:51:45.815 ERROR [5] Error changing to correct channel for recording: Could not load file or assembly 'RedRat, Version=1.23.2502.24081, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=ae0a3380d5973a3c' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

I just upgraded my version of the redrat sdk, so the next version will have a later version of the DLL.

Hi Sub,

b00sfuk Wrote:The Redrat is a great device that I've used for several years. It is very robust & reliable. There are 2 ways to use it with GB-PVR.
1. Using the built in redrat.dll which provide basic channel number changing only.
2. Using the resident RedratControl utility. This is called via the .exechanger option in GB-PVR but does allow much more control via macros etc.

I use (1) as it is the most simple and all I need.

I'm too using RedRat, in option 1, it's been running for about 2 years without any hassle.... I'm very happy with my RedRat.......Thanks for updating the RedRat Dlls
