Running 99.5. I have 2 client machines that connect to my gbpvr backend server. Both are having troubles with livetv playback. It starts out ok, and then the audio and video gets choppy after about 5 seconds. My network is fully gigE for all machines. I have tried different Video Decoders like Nero, Dscaler, and Cyberlink, but all have the same results on both machines. I tried changing the LiveTV preplay to 4000 as listed on a different post to no avail. I do not think speed of the clients is the problem as 1 is a P 2.4 with 1 gig of ram and the other is a Dual core 3.4 with 2 gigs of ram.

If I have the clients set to Streaming, I do not get any picture back live tv, but I do get it back on File Sharing. I am able to watch any recordings with no problems and can see the upcoming recordings and the guide. I attached the log files of one of the client machines if that might lead a clue on the problem.

Forgot to note that pre 99.5, both machines could stream live tv fine.

Many thanks in advance

Which mux are you using? If you are using dvr-ms then i think you need to be in file sharing mode, though i have not gotten this to work.

Using the cyberlink mux on the clients and the server.

Have you checked to see which muxs are registered on the server by using the "BDA Mux Checker" in the start menu gbpvr program folder? You may not have registered any muxs, and if they are not registered the gbpvr defaults to dvr-ms even if you selected another in the misc tab.

Have been in file sharing mode, so not sure if that is the case or not as that is the only mode working for live tv to be choppy. as streaming is nothing. I do see where none of the mux are registered on the server. Trying to now figure out how to fix that.

Since you do not have a mux registered, gbpvr is defaulting to the dvr-ms mux which must be used with file serving.

You need to register any other mux to use it.

Here is what BDA Mux Checker shows for one of my clients:

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer
FILE: C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin\ivimux.ax
VERSION: 3.0.86.0

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: c:\windows\system32\thmpgmux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.2022

This is telling me that I have two muxs registered that gbpvr can use (in addition to the dvr-ms mux). So, for example, to register the cyberlink mux shown, I went to start, run and typed (no qoutes):

"regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\thmpgmux.ax"

If you have the cyberlink mux on your system, it is most likely named mpgmux.ax, and you can do a search of you hard drive to find it, though it may be in the system32 folder.

Once you have registered a mux, my experience is that you want to go to streaming instead of file sharing for the cyberlink.

p.s. congrats on getting anything across to your client using dvr-ms as your mux. I have not been so fortunate Sad.

Thanks for the information! Installed 2 of the mux on the server, but no better results for me.

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer
FILE: C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\bin\ivimux.ax
VERSION: 3.0.79.542

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: c:\windows\system32\mpgmux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.0727

If I choose streaming on the clients, GBPVR goes into Not Responding mode with either the cyberlink or the InterVideo chosen in the server MISC setting. File Sharing mode remains the same, choppy after a few seconds.

EDIT

I take that back. 1 of the clients is now working with live tv Smile
