When pausing, why does it says "Subtitles Enabled" all the time? (and not "Auto" or whatever the aspect ratio is. not that I'm "requesting" it, just interesting why the one shows and not the other).

You can press Ctrl-Y to disable subtitles.

If you're not using the blue skin, then its possible the skin doesnt show the aspect ratio text.

I've had this for a few releases. Even after hitting the yellow button on my hauppauge remote, the next video I play, 'Subtitles Enabled' is back. It doesn't seem to remember that I turned it off.

Also check you've got the DVB subtitles and Teletext subtitles unchecked on the misc tab of the config app.

I have seen this, and asked sub to look at it. I was finally able to start a video, press the CTRL-Y to turn it off, and then stop the video. Then I could start it again, and the caption does not appear...

I not aware of any current issues with this. I know this could happen in previous releases, but as far as I knew that bug had been fixed.

I wasn't complaining about the actual subtitles showing, just the text "subtitles enabled". This is during a recorded TV, we don't even have subtitles for those things.
I am using the blue skin. I don't care if it shows "subtitles enabled" or "subtitles disabled". I was wondering that it shows the subtitle status, and not the aspect. However, if I change the aspec during playback, I see the names fine.

There is no message that says "subtitles disabled", so when disabled it effectively removes this on screen status message.

Also make sure you have 'enable SRT viewer' unchecked in the config app. This is the default setting, but yours may be different.
