What cable box are you getting? if it is a motorola and has a firewire port, that might be the best route for channel changing. If you mentioned this already, sorry, I missed it. If too late... sorry again.

I got it already, and its a scientific atlantica explorer 3100 from time warner cable. It has a IR port to control vcrs but i think its output only. Right now recording is changing channels correctly as i said. But watching live tv in gbpvr it only accepts 3 digits and not the 4th for the 1000's numbered channels.
Not being able to move channels is a lil odd. There has to be a way to remove the 3 digit before gbpvr auto enters cap. The recording part is obviously not limited to 3.

I'll add support for 4 digits in a future release. Sorry, this had never been raised as a limitation before.

Ahh, i was wondering because i tried telling gbpvr i had a diffrent card just to see if i could get more digits and couldnt.
At least it changes 4 digits when recording, and you can change channels in the guide.
