This may or may not be the right place for this problem, but since this is the main function of the PC, here goes: In the past week or so, I've been having problems when the PC tries to hibernate. It will attempt to hibernate and when it turns most of itself off, it immediately turns back on. For the life of me I cannot figure out what is causing it to turn back on the second it hibernates. I haven't updated any software during that time and I don't have wake on lan turned on. The only thing I've done is completely unplug everything and move the pc from one side of a desk to another and plug everything back in. I can't see that anything related to that would be causing this problem. I've run out of things to try and I am hoping I can find a solution among the knowledgeable folks here.... I am using this PC with gbpvr 99.12 and also the mvp. I turn off the mvp whenever I'm not using it.

I have the same problem with a machine running XP SP2 with all the service but it doesn't run gbpvr - in fact it's not even on the same network - I just haven't got round to looking at it yet. I think it is an XP or bios problem but... I will find out

Believe it or not I believe it has something to do with an Adobe/Reader driver, do a google search on this, I had the same problem and I had to uninstall an Adobe deal, once that was gone all was well.

This problem can be related to which USB devices are plugged into which ports. So unplugging and moving the machine around, and then plugging the USB devices back into different ports could be a cause.

You may find that your motherboard allows separate jumpering to provide +5VSB to the different onboard USB hubs. Normally you'd jumper +5VSB to the USB port into which you plug your IR receiver (and possibly keyboard/mouse), so these ports still get power on S3 hibernation or standby, allowing you to wake the machine via remote or keyboard/mouse.

You'd then want to plug other USB devices, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wireless Keyboard/Mouse, iPod etc into a port without +5VSB so activity on those devices didn't accidentally wake the machine.

On my HTPC, I had the same problem with it immediately waking from standby, until I separated the USB devices so the IR receiver is on the USB1/2 hub jumpered for +5VSB, and the Bluetooth and Wifi transceivers (I use a BT keyboard and mouse) are on the USB3/4 hub (jumpered not to get +5VSB.

By the way, I think it was Bluetooth that was waking it, but not sure.

Anyway it works flawlessly now, so worth a try. Hope this helps.

I think it is probably the adobe reader issue...I've seen acroiehelper fly across my filemon program a few times so I'll look into that and try to turn it off when I get home from work...I doubt that it is related to the USB ports, but I'll try and unplug all of those since my keyboard and mouse are both ps/2. We'll see what happens...

Sorry to say that I am still having this problem. I unplugged all of my USB devices and still immediately woke back up. Also I updated my adobe software to version 8.1 and turned off the recording service.....still woke up. I'm running out of ideas to try here. HELP!
