Thanks for posting the link to this article. My server hasn't gone into low power standby mode since I attached the USB beanbag for an MCE remote. Hopefully the registry entry mentioned will fix that. Before this recent problem, my server pc functioned exactly as you describe.
The server would be in a quiet standby state unless it was busy recording, running comskip or the client pc in the living room was playing a recorded show. I use all static ip's on my network and wake on lan settings on my network card just as this article describes.
