Ok... let me begin by saying I'm new to all this, but fairly competent with computers. I'm running vista x64 and just installed a Hauppauge PVR150. Now I understand the standard dongle.bin isn't going to work (and it didn't).

I found, through searching the web, another dongle and tried it out... now I'm getting really broken sound and extremely broken video from live tv... this is marked improvement, however.

I've tried to search the forums and the web, but now I'm just going to ask... what dongle should I be using for best results?

Perhaps this is related/will help... PVRX2 has 'live tv' shaded out and clicking on it takes me to a black screen for a moment and back to the menu. Only the old UI even seems willing to try. My computer's pretty solid on the graphics side (I game a lot) so I'm thinking it may have something to do with this problem (or any one of a million other things, but I'll start here).

Thanks in advance for any help.

There is a post in the 1.0.8 survival guide thread recommending the the MVPMC dongle (see http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=3).

That said, the dongle supplied with the release does work for the most part, but can lockup from time to time on Vista.

Neither the mvpmc dongle or the one supplied by the release should give broken sounds/video, so this makes me think you've got something else happening.

Reproduce this problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

check the survival guide sticky thread and use the mvpmc dongle from there if you use Vista.

I'm actually not confident that the 1.1.47 dongle in 1.0.8 works in Vista, it certainly doesn't for me. If you are having problems with the mvpmc dongle I would suggest trying the other Hauppauge dongles discussed in this thread.

It does work for me with Vista, but certainly has issues with it, which is why I give the warning in the config app.

For me I can boot up with it and browse around for a while, start video playback etc before eventually these issues eventually kill the experience.
