I've searched through the forums, but not finding what I need.

I'm trying to make it so I can play music from iTunes on my wife's PC.
I created a network share to her iTunes music folder.
I added this share as a network drive on my GBPVR PC.
I added this network drive to my music folder path in GBPVR config
Under Music Library, I can see the initial folder, but none of the subfolders. And Play or Play All does nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

I DO NOT have iTunes installed on the GBPVR, do I need to?

Whwn you say you can see the inital folder - does that mean you can enter into it - and see just the ".." - or does it not let you enter into the inital share folder?

If it doesn't let you enter - check the setup of the network share, and also map it on your PC and open in explorer, then try in GBPVR again.
I had an issue where my network share were not available unless I opened them in explorer first.

Thanks

EDIT: A thread about this network thing which just came up: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=31256

Thanks for the suggestion, that got me a bit further.

Now I can see all the subfolders and music, but I can't get them to play. I tried selecting a subfolder containing music, as well as selecting a music file itself.. but hitting Play or Play All does nothing.

I can play regular MP3 fine, it's just the iTunes music that is having an issue.

EDIT: On our MVP, I can see the iTunes folder, but I can't navigate into it from GBPVR.

I have seen quite a few posts about itunes not playing on all sorts of media devices like media drives - by all accounts it is because itunes have things like album covers embedded into the music file. I bet they want to restrict media players that can play them.

what kind of files are they? Can Media Player play them? If not you may need to install some codecs to play them.

Good question, I'll try in Media Player.

When I get it working, is there a way to have it shuffle through all the music? It seems to only play the audio files in the current folder (not subfolders). Or perhaps is there a way to create a playlist and have it play that?

Ok yeah, I can't play the music on media player either. But then again, I just tried on my wife's PC and it won't play in media player there also, so that can't be it. They play ok in RealPlayer (on wife's PC).

I was thinking maybe it has to do with the way iTunes doesn't allow other computers to play the music - the copy protection?

This shouldn't be so hard, is it?

What i meant was can you play the files at all on the computer that won't play them through gbpvr? I'm sure you just need to install a codec to get this working.

I believe there is an option in the config file to say not to use media player? Possibly this needs to be turned on as well?

It always is though. I'm guessing that your iTunes stuff is encoded as M4A AAC files.
Windows media player can't natively play those.
try http://www.3ivx.com
it is a 30 trial, I think. If that solves it, you can either purchase the codec from them, or look for other free ones.
