To get smooth DVB-t (freeview) playback i have to set my output resolution to 720x576. Now I have just inserted an ATI3450 I have started to download HD movie trailers. Am I correct in thinking that when I play them back at the resolution of 720x576 they will not look as good as if I plyed them back with the resolution set to 720p or 1080i? If thats the case is it possible to change the resolution of the fly (depending on the resolution of the file being played back) in GBPVR.

whats the native resolution of your tv
if its a standard crt tv then it wont make any difference infact it probably wont show a picture at all

for best results you should always try and stick to the native resolution of your screen
but if you are getting stutters then this isnt always possible

If you run your desktop resolution is set to 720x576, then its not going to look highdef. The most it'll look like is a good quality standard definition picture.

Although not possible to change the resolution on the fly depending on content, you can set some of the buttons on your remote to quickly change res using a free utility called Reschange from
http://www.12noon.com/reschange.htm

For my Hauppage remote, I use the following in IRemote,ini:
;GBPVR------------------------------------------------
GRNPOWER={run(C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\PVRX2.exe -fse)}
BLUE={run(C:reschange.exe -width=1280 -height=720 -refresh=50)}
YELLOW={run(C:reschange.exe -width=1360 -height=768 -refresh=60)}
GREEN={run(C:reschange.exe -width=1280 -height=720 -refresh=60)}

If using an LCD it is better to use the native resolution of the screen - in my case 1360 x 768. I get a pin-sharp picture at this res, but my LCD cannot do 50Hz (UK TV) at this res, so if I want totally smooth panning shots etc I drop down to 1280 x 720 (720p). Now you have a new card presumably you won't need to use 720x576 to get smooth video?
