Some people have done too much "damage" to their Windows setup, via registry edits etc. that the guest account can't be fixed, using any of the suggestions I have offered in the mvpmc forum, but ultimately I can't really help beyond the basics.

If you can run with a username/password you will have to modify your script.cgi mount, it won't make any difference to performance or how mvpmcx2 runs. All the other instructions should be the same.

Hi again.

Now it's working. Thank's for all answers & tips

The solution was to enable guest account and have simple file sharing on. Nothing more than that. Maybe when you turn simple file sharing off and try to share a folder you get problems with permissions in another way.

Now it's time for the next part. Hope I can get that to work.

Sorry about that I should have looked at Hi-Jack's document. As far as I know, and what I always recommended to mvpmc users in the past was that Simple File Sharing had to be re-enabled. I am going to add some comments to the link.

Any hints for a thicky please.

I have created the share, granted access to guest, enabled guest, tried simple and advanced sharing. I can access the share from other pc's.

on the PCH all I get when trying to browse to the share is (sorry can't screen print it)

"No Workgroup found!
Press [return] key to return to your
previous screen"

I can't think of anything I may have done to windows to upset things.

I'm sat in front of a brick wall at the moment ;(

If you've got a USB keyboard, you can plug it in and type the url in the form smb://<ipaddress>/mvpmc

You could also try it with your remote, it's more work but it works. Have you also tried rebooting your router? That solved the "no workgroup found" message for me.

Thanks both. I went out an borrowed a USB keyboard - Doean't that make things much easier!!
Yes, I can manually setup and see shares on the PC's and NAS box now. And play content - yay.
I have manually setup a static IP address on the PCH, setup netbios over TCPIP, but will have a google around for workgroup browsing problems - there seems to be a lot of them.

Thanks again, I'm one step closer now
