  <BDADisableStatusChecks>[B][color=red]false[/color][/B]</BDADisableStatusChecks>
  <BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>[B][color=red]1[/color][/B]</BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>
This should solve the issue with the 5kb recordings.
My first two settings are the same as yours but for the third I have

Code:
<BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>0</BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>

I will change this and restart the recording service as soon as my current analog recordings are finished (I don't want to interrupt them).

Thanks!

EDIT: I did change BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording to 1 and restarted the recording service, but nope, sorry, it does not fix it.

EDIT2: And other muxers still fail as well, the same way. And TS Mux still produces files unreadable by anything.

I uploaded short clips of a few seconds each of 1080i recordings of the same channel and same program, one made with WinTV and the other GBPVR with the TS Mux mux (since that is the only one that doesn't produce empty files)

I don't know if anything can be gleaned from this but you can see that the 1080i recorded with WinTV should be fine and playable on your computers as well as mine.

The stream recorded in the GB-PVR .ts file is for some encrypted digital cable channel. My guess is that you've got the mapping set incorrectly for that channel, and its pointing at some other unexpected channel.

Ah thanks! That really helps narrow it down.

So it could be that the channels that are broadcasting 1080i (PBS, NBC) are the ones I don't have mapped correctly, while the ones that broadcast 720p (ABC) are? That would explain it.

Is there any way to get the mappings out of WinTV, which is tuning it correctly? All it gives me are names like 2211 qam-211 or 2003 qam-3 and not the specific technical numbers.

I can complete the scan in GBPVR using the previous version of the program (so it doesn't crash while scanning) but the small preview window does not work so I can't map them by manually checking each number GBPVR comes up with.

Right now I am relying on the numbers given in this page of this thread on avsforum and this blog post and I do realize that some of them might be out of date (I just checked and the mapping for channel 3 KHON seems to be giving me The CW now come to think of it).

Or is this getting too off the subject of this thread? Should I create a new one?

Yes, I think that is most likely what has happened.

Sorry, I dont know. I'm not that familar with WinTV.

It shouldnt crash assuming you've applied the patch from the survival guide thread.

You are correct! You figured it out!

I looked at the end of the AVSForum thread (which was finally updated with a flurry of activity) and found the updated mapping for the CBS channel, and was finally able to make my first 1080i recording!

Since the channels that were badly mapped were those that broadcast in 1080i and the ones that were mapped fine were the ones that broadcast in 720p and SD, I leapt to the wrong conclusion that the problem was 1080i and not the channel mappings themselves.

Sorry to take up so much of your time like this on something that wasn't even GBPVR's fault. Thank you very much for being so helpful!
