I'm experiencing choppy DVD Play back.

Is my system dated or are there some settings I can tweak for DVD playback?

Navigator: DVD Navigator
Video Decoder: Cyberlink
Audio Decoder: Cyberlink
Audio Renderer: Cyberlink

My System Specs:
AMD Duron 1GHz
512 MB RAM
DVD Drive

try a different audio renderer...cyberlink's is known to cause problems...
directshow is best but try till ya find one that works well..

other than that, try different video decoders, CL doesn't always work in other apps..

what video card?

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000.

I'm also running BitDefender 2008, thinking my RAM might be low too.

ram should be ok. 1gb is better, but even with hd and some other stuff open, I'm not usually much above 500mb or so.

Yeah, try a different decoder, including audio. Maybe MPV, or Dscaler5, which is my recommended one for setting up audio. Getting spdif out of ffdshow or ac3filter is a complete pain in comparison.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

It is? I just ticked the spdif option in AC3Filter and it works perfectly... I'm curious though if the MPV/MPA is better for spdif?

I can't think of MPA since I haven't used it in a good while. SPDIF with AC3Filter for me, though, yeah, it just wasn't happening. I did get it going, but I had to mess with the tick boxes in a couple different areas for it.

I'd get sound, but I think it would keep sending stereo 2.0 to my receiver instead of 5.1 is what the main problem was. It would keep putting my receiver into stereo/Prologic II mode instead of digital 5.1.

After a format or something, it was doing it again. Then I installed Dscaler5 and bam, all fixed and reliable. YMMV.

what's mpeg playback like - that pc is pretty much at the bottom of what you can expect to get away with for gbpvr.

Does the type of video renderer affect dvd playback - I think it does, in which case make you are using overlay and not vmr9 / FSE
