I've been using GB-PVR for about 3 years with great success but I've finally ran into something I can't solve. I had to rebuild the computer hosting GB-PVR this weekend (latest version) and I can't get the Schedules Direct EPG to update. My subscription is good until June and I even signed up for a new test login to make sure there wasn't some problem with my existing subscription but I can't get either one to update. The exact error is:

Your EPG Source does not appear to be configured correctly. Please check the EPG Source Settings and try again. System.NetWebException: The remote server returned an error: (417) Expectation failed.

Logs attached. I'm sure I'm just being dense.

Thanks in advance for help,

Have you logged into the Schedules Direct website to add your lineups?

Wow, that's fast sub!

Yes I have. in fact, I'd deleted the line up - gone to a new one and then back. I have Comcast Cable and they have analog and digital packages and I've tried both several times. I only have 2 PVR-150s so I'm not interested in the digital channels but I've tried about everything multiple times.

Thanks for such a great product!

Sorry, but I'm not really sure what this "(417) Expectation failed" error is that is being returned. I've not see any reports of it in the past.

Maybe download the xmltv client from xmltv.org, and see if it'll download your schedules direct listings.

Ok, got it figured out. Google is your friend.

I spent some time googling on the road since I didn't have access to the system at home. The error definition is:

Your Web server thinks that the HTTP data stream sent by the client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) contains a 'Expect' request which can not be satisfied. The Expect request is fairly generic i.e. loosely defined in the HTTP protocol. It can specify more than one expectation, each of which may be interpreted differently by different Web servers.

One online reference indicated that this can be caused by a web proxy or using certain ad block software. My router is a SmoothWall Linux box that's heavily modded and guess what - I have an ad blocking mod installed on it. Once I turned it off, it started working.

Hope this helps someone else.

As an aside - I'm a road warrior - I spend 4+ days a week on the road and don't usually have time for TV. I use GB-PVR to record all my shows and then transcode them to play on my portable video player. I watch them in planes or on trains or sitting in airports. GB-PVR is a great product! Thanks!
