I use GB-PVR with a MVP unit and find the default font sizes in Video Library, where I spend most of my time, way too small. I have a 24" TV that is connected to the MVP, located about 15' away from where I watch.
So I want to increase some font sizes, particulary the scrolling box containing the text listings/files in Video Library. I found a related article in the forum, but it was very vague and simply said to copy an existing Skin folder, renaming it to something else (e.g. "My Skin&quotWink. Then it suggested to edit the SKIN.XML file. So I edited C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\My Skin\Video Library, changing the font for TextStyle name "ListText" in the <TextStyles> section. This did increase the font size, but now the *height* of each text line is too small to fully display the larger font. Anybody know how to edit the height of this object so it can accomodate larger fonts. I realize that will mean less visible lines in the scrolling box - that's OK.

Any tips or documentation on doing such tweaks to GB-PVR would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks to all!
-Mike

For others of you that will undoubtedly run into this same frustating problem, I found a solution. Forget using the default plug-in named Video Library - it does not offer a setting to control the height, spacing or # lines in the scrolling list of files in your video library.

Instead, I was pointed to the My Videos plug-in by another forum member. This plug-in is very granular, allowing one to tweak all the settings for displaying LARGE fonts so you can actually read them on a TV(unless you have a 50" set, in which case you don't have any problems).

Here are the lines from My Video's skin.xml file that I modified. The file is located at C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\Blue\My Videos\Skin.xml. NOTE: you must first install (extract the My Videos plug-in ZIP file) correctly, which will copy the needed files to the BLUE skin folder and below.

<!-- increased font size from 13 to 24 for the file listing -->
<!-- line, both unslected and selected views -->
<! -- these next 2 lines are located in the TextStyles section -->
<TextStyle name="ListFile" color="LightGray" typeFace="Tahoma" size="24" style="normal" align="left" vert="center"/>

<TextStyle name="ListFileFocus" color="LightGray" typeFace="Tahoma" size="24" style="bold" align="left" vert="center"/>

<!-- lastly, need changed the #lines in scrolling box, spacing etc. -->
<! -- this next line is located in the SpecialElements section -->

<SpecialElement name="List" loc="201,63" spacing="0,3" rows="12" columns="1"/>

Since I chose a much larger font for the scrolling box of the file listings, I had to reduce the # lines/row to 12, and increased the spacing between each line to 3. Of course you'll want to experiment with your own settings...

Hope this helps others customize their GB-PVR and begin to offer some form of searchable documentation on this subject...

You might also want to look at the Flt Blue High Visibilty skin or the Flat Blue High Visibility - Orange skin and the Video Archive plug-in. I also have trouble reading things from across the room and in the flat blue high visibility orange skin I made the text quite large for all the GBPVR screens, including the video archive plug-in, which I can read from across the room without my glasses (no mean trick).
