Random Skips in TS Playback

I have raised this before and I have seen others reporting it but as yet have found no solution, thought I would give it another try.
The problem is that occasionally after a random period of time the video will skip forward, often appearing to freeze during this time. These skips may be connected to minor glitches in the file caused by signal dropouts or cpu spikes when recording but generally speaking they play fine in other apps. Having played around with decoders (I'm now using SAF) I am as confident as I can be that it is not decoder connected, but seems related to the TS reader. The files are TS mux with mpeg video and audio.

Any help is welcome but I suspect what is required is that the TS Reader needs to be more fault tolerant.

What OS are you running? This sounds a lot like the problem discussed here (the fix was Windows 7).

They are caused by drop outs, and I know why the effect happens. I'm intending to fix it in the next release.

That's good to know as the weather here was awful over the weekend and there must have been many drop outs as the symptoms above kept happening, often skipping massive amounts of the prog. I was worried that it was related to some vista updates I let it install the day before and the wife wasn't impressed!

Don't know if this means anything but I used to get skips in.ts running 1.4 recordings and live tv.
I increased live tv preview buffer to 1000 ms and it seems to have gone.
It only takes a second to try.

McBainUK - It does look like the same issue, interestingly one point that it raises makes sense and that is that occasionally in live tv it will suddenly go back to tv listings or main menu which is presumably caused by the same problem. Since I'm on XP and 1.4.7 it looks like the fix that worked on windows 7 has not helped me (as was reported).

bethanyrayne - This on recorded files so it can't be to do with the buffer.

BigMoose - Yes, its certainly been worse in the bad weather, obviously all points to what I've already assumed - that it is some kind of glitch in the signal that is the trigger.
