I'm having a really weird problem using Sonic's CinePlayer MPEG decoder with GBPVR. I can use it for DVD playback and it works like a champ. When I select it for TV (i.e., MPEG) playback, it works, but the picture is upside-down.

Sonic claims that they only support using the decoder with WMP, and I am "returning" my copy for a refund online.

First, can anyone tell me if that's a known problem.

Second, is there a fix to be had?

Third, I'm thinking about going to a better vid card than the Savage integrated with my mobo (Shuttle SK41G). If I choose one that has an integrated MPEG decoder, will that work for GBPVR?

Once again, thanks to sub and all for a good product. My kids love having their shows available anytime.

Any input on the hardware MPEG decoder? It's actually cheaper to buy a vid card with embedded decoder than to try and find a software one...

the only hardware decoders supported with gbpvr are the pvr350 (capture card with tv out) and the xcard (a video card that only plays back videos, not a graphics card, just a video card). there are hardware assisted cards, eg geforce 6600 (i just got oneSmile) some decoders take advantage of this hardware assistance (usually the gfx card comes with a free copy of the decoder that supports it) and gbpvr will allow you to use this decoder thus taking advantage of the hardward assisted decoding (but its not true hardware decoding, most is still done via software).

i have a 350 and was using that for output for quite some time now with my 6600 i use that for tv out, and its better quality (well i have a hdtv and the 6600 came with a hdtv adapter, but the svideo was just as good in my opinion aswell).

So the GEForce 6600 has worked for you? Thanks for the info!

yeah i love the geforce 6600, the tv out is brilliant. i was going to get an ATI card but you have to buy the hdtv adapter seperate, the 6600 series come with them (not every version of it, but most).
