Hi All,

I've been running DVBViewer Pro for years, but want to move to NextPVR (mainly because of its well-featured Popcorn Hour client).

I'm currently using the current TV server setup:

- Motherboard: ASUS P5G41T-M LX
- CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600
- Memory: 4 GB DDR3
- Operating System: Windows XP 32 bit
- Tuner: FloppyDTV DVB-S2 with latest firmware and BDA driver 4.5N
- DVBViewer LNB configuration: A = Astra 1, B = Hotbird, C = Astra 2, D = Astra 3

DVBViewer has always worked flawlessly with the FloppyDTV. However, after disabling its recording service and installing NextPVR along with the final patches, I've encountered the following issues:

1. NextPVR would crash after scanning for quite some time. I resolved this by creating custom lists with only the transponders of interest (which I obtained from DVBViewer / TransEdit).

2. NextPVR would not find channels on many transponders.

To make a long story (and analysis) short: it appears NextPVR is not able to switch the LNB. After rebooting the server, the default selected LNB appears to be A (= Astra 1). So scanning for Satellite A works fine. However, many transponders for the remaining Satellite positions B/C/D will appear to be empty. In addition, channels that are returned, do not belong to positions B/C/D, but to position A. MTV France, for instance.

In the meantime, I've moved back from Windows 7 64 bit to Windows XP 32 bit (for several reasons) and have the same issue. So it does not seem to be OS related. Even though it seems irrelevant - DVBViewer is running fine using the 4.5N BDA driver - I also tried the 5.7N BDA driver while I was on Windows 7, without success.

I'm at my wits' end here... :-( What could I be overlooking? Does NextPVR officially support DiSEqC (1.0) with FloppyDTV / FireDTV? Thanks in advance.

Regards, Maurice

Unfortunately this is true. It doesn't support diseqc control on this device. Unfortunately diseqc wasn't covered by Microsofts BDA specification so each manufacturer implemented it a different way. The only way to do diseqc control for a wide variety of cards was to implement manufacturer specific code for each type of device. I don't have a floppy dtv s so haven't implemented support for this. Sorry.

It might be possible to control DVBViewer recordings and livetv from NextPVR to use with the Popcorn's using the Network Recorder Plugin, here is a bit of a thread on it.

Gentlemen,

Thanks very much for your prompt responses! I'll be looking into Martin's suggestion shortly.

In the meantime, @ sub: thanks, your explanation clarifies a lot. :-) Is there a list of cards supported by NextPVR, specifically regarding DiSEqC? I was thinking of upgrading to a Cine S2 V6...

When it comes to needing diseqc I'd pretty much only suggest Hauppauge cards since this is all I test DVB-S with. From memory it also does diseqc with Technotrend and Twinhan devices but it's been a long time since I tested with these other devices

Good morning / afternoon / evening,

Over the last week, I've tried to get the NextPVR Network Recorder to work with the DVBViewer streaming service. In summary, this is what I've done:

- Tested whether I could access the DVBViewer streaming service via VLC Media Player. This works fine. Response time until picture is displayed: between 4 and 8 seconds.
- Created a channel and channel_mapping export for NextPVR (from the Access database I was already using to generate DVBViewer style channel and favourite imports).
- Imported the files into the NextPVR database using Sqliteman (v1.2.2).
- Configured NetworkRecorder.xml to correspond with my network setup. My TV server (which also runs the DVBViewer recording service) is at 20.0.0.3.
- Upgraded NextPVR to 2.3.6.

What I'm getting as soon as I click on a channel in the list is 'Please wait...' for quite some time, during which NextPVR is non-responsive, followed by a black screen (I'm running it windowed). In the logs I'm observing the following which appears to indicate problems:

- "Network Recorder Unexpected Reply" messages.
- The log indicates the recording service is writing to C:\Temp\, but nothing is there.

I've mainly tried to achieve streaming on the server itself, but also tried to get it running on my laptop (using the same database) this morning. VLC Media Player can also connect to the DVBViewer streaming server from the laptop, but unfortunately NextPVR exhibits the same behaviour as on the server pc.

Could you please check my database and logs? I must be overlooking something trivial... Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Maurice

On a side note: The only way I could process the XML format tuning information through export/import was by excluding line feeds. I expect this not to pose a problem, other than a less readable layout, since the XML is still consistent. At one point I also used NetTarget.exe to overwrite some channel information (i.e. include the line feeds), but it didn't make a difference.

The shows should the wrong url being checked and I noticed the wiki had an old version of the plugin that wouldn't support http mode. I uploaded a later version let me know if it works. If it is valid xml it should be okay.

Also in the future post in the plugins support thread, and mention NetworkRecorder in the subject, I almost overlooked this post this morning.

Thanks Martin! Things are looking a lot better now (at least I'm getting a picture). I'll play around with some parameters and let you know.

I assume you can move the plugin related stuff from this thread to a new one?

Maurice
