You must be starting it incorrectly. The steps below should do it.

- Boot you MVP with the normal Hauppauge software until you see the normal MVP menus.
- Click the Start -> Programs -> Hauppauge MediaMVP -> Stop icon. Dont turn the MVP off! The TV will be saying "Contacting Servers".
- Click the Start -> Programs -> Devnz -> GB-PVR -> GB-PVR MediaMVP icon.

Make sure you're running 2.1.22050 or higher. The menus should appear about now.

Lagrian,

I certainly had the "failed to locate GUI server" for a while, but did a complete reboot of the mvp (with Hauppauge services running), then followed sub's instructions above and all was well.
Also had some problems when switching off dhcp client on the pc (using a direct connection) as per Hauppauge's instructions, but a reboot seems to solve most things as far as the mvp is concerned!!!

Thanks for the help pjb n sub,

That doesn't work for me unfortunately and I am running version 2.1.22054 of the MVP software.

I use a cross over cable too but have always kept it DHCP enabled so I don't think thats my problem.

I'll try a re-install and see if that helps

just to note my setup is a fresh install of xp with no other running software except yahoo messenger. so no firewalls or anti virus programs.

ah right thanks so if DHCP is disabled, what IP did you give the NIC or does it not matter ?

What ever was in the instructions (can't see that it matters really).
Haven't got the instructions right now, My MVP was a d3 and has fried itself, so is on its way to be replaced [Image: sad.gif]

I had a d3 relaced too, I see them still being sold now !!

I found the solution to my problem. Horray.

I have the MVP connected to a Netgear PCI NIC using a cross-over cable and connect to the internet with a belkin wireless card. When I have both cards enabled, stopping both the MVP services and starting the GB-PVR MVP server doesn't work and I get the message saying "Failed to connect to GUI Interface" or something similar. As soon as I disable the wireless card it jumps to life and connects, once in I can re-enable the wireless card after it connects it seems to be fine from then on in.

Seems like there may be an issue here, I am just not sure with, is it something to do with the ports and what card they are listening on, I am in the dark in this area. Has anyone else got the MVP on a cross-over cable setup and use another NIC to connect to the internet, wireless or not and has it working ?

Either way I am happy that I am able to use this product seemlessly (well apart from the intial getting it to connect phase) and it works really well.

Well done sub.
