Static At Bottom of DVD Playback

When playing a DVD, I get a bar at the bottom that takes up about 10% of the window that's full of static. The top 90% is fine and clear, but the bottom part is flashing with various colors. I tried changing the Video Decoder from 'System Default' to 'Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder' and it fixes it, but the remote control no longer works. Can anyone help me out with this problem? I dont what the 'system default' MPEG2 decoder is on your machine, but its obviously flakey. Try installing another MPEG2 decoder.

Try changing from VMR to Overlay to see if your remote problem.
