Seems unfortunate as the "USB-UIRT" mode looks exactly what one would need to train the system to the Twinhan remote. Also what is interesting is after the error/exception is shown I can still "continue" and get to the "training the remote screen" (sorry - I'm not at the GB-PVR PC at the moment so I can't remember screen names exactly) after which whilst (a) when you push "train remote" against a function it doesn't seem to pickup the remotes button push, but (b) when I am just selecting a function in the left hand column & then use the remote the cursor jumps and responds. For example if I was in the row for "button 2" on the screen, and then hit the Twinhan remote's 6 button, then GB-PVR will jump to row "button 6" on the screen.

If I wanted to persist myself and try to get the twinhan remote working using the GB-PVR remote mode = "USB-UIRT" do you have any suggestions?

I can assure you that the TwinHan USB dongle is nothing like the USB-UIRT. It'll definitely not work regardless of what you try.

Also when you mentioned Girder what was the concept there? e.g. when this software is setup what GB-PVR remote mode should I use. I could try this too

When used this way, girder just sends fake keyboard events to the GB-PVR. GB-PVR doesnt know you are using a remote.

Re MCE remotes, is there a particular type to check for to be compatible with GB-PVR? For example isthe following ok?

Yes, that'd probably work. I've personally got the older MCE2004 remote, but I know some people are using that specific remote.

BTW - If you had the choice of (for a remote TV setup) of the following 2 options which one would you recommend for :

(a) MCE remote + AV wireless sending device for video/audio/remote [assume it works OK]

(b) MediaMVP

If the MediaMVP support all the normal GB-PVR plugins then I'm guess it may be best for quality + taking the load off the PC?

I've also just started using GB-PVR and have the TwinHan remote. The TwinHan remote just sends out key presses. I tried editing the KeyMapping xml files in GB-PVR to match with some success. The remote doesn't have navigational keys which is a pain but i can still do most things. The problem is that some of the KeyMapping changes seemed to have worked and some haven't. I used the utility that shows which keys are being pressed.

Has anyone succesfully remapped the key mapping within PVR itself to match the TwinHan and if so, wanty to post your xml files?
