Playback grainey and color is dulled

Hello,
Newbie here......Everything is set up and works properly but my picture on both my computer screen and my TV are grainy and the picture color is dull. My recording quality is not very good at all. When i watch live TV its a little better but not much,

I'm useing the Media MVP and the Hauppauge PVR500 Capture Card.

Any suggestions on what I can tweak to fix this problem.

This util will enable you to tweak the settings on your 500.

A grainy image might mean that the 500 is receiving a low quality signal due to either low signal strength, poor connectors or cheap coax cable. What does your regular tv look like? Try swapping the tv and 500 coax cables as a test.

I tried a new cable wire and its still grainy. I did tweak a few things and its brighter.....but still grainy. There's also a slight blur to everything. Its especially noticable when watching sports for some reason.

Could this be an encodeing thing?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
