I had this problem also. Got a Quad core Q6600 running WinXP and 2Gb RAM and ATI x1250 integrated graphics (catalyst 7.10), DVI - HDMI cable, if thats any bearing. Installed is the latest KLite codecs which includes tons 'flavours' of FFDshows if thats the right way to describe them. I wonder if there is an issue here? I tried all the switching of VM9 etc in the config, no joy. Note that I also had installed epgextra plugins and 'Movie Wizard'. The freeze tended to come when I exited the plugins 'Movie Wizard' or 'TV Listing' and tried to go into recordings menu mostly. Worse than the freeze was that Explorer would crash also and no browsing possible, neither on Firefox.
Eventually out of frustration, deleted gbpvr completely to remove all the additional .exe files and .bat files. Removed and reinstalled K-lite. The K-lite reinstall didn't seem to make the difference but the plugin removal has made all the difference. This does not help as I like those plugins a lot. There is an application error entry, but I'm afraid I did not note that down, before the system restore which I also tried in trying to resolve this. I think XP reinstall is a little drastic as someone pointed out they did. Just make changes and create a restore point. If anyone has got to the bottom of this please help. I really don't like the low resolution of GBPVR and many plugins don't work on this version though it's more stable.
OK sorry to waste people's time on my earlier waffle. I fixed the problem for my PVXR2 crash problem by hunting a few leads in the forum. It was in the video decoders after all. I tried the system defaults for Audio and Video in GBPVR config and things were very stable. However, the live TV picture was POS now, so I really needed the cyberlink ones. But the ones I had installed would cause it to crash all the time. So I registered the cyberlink mux filters I found on a post which some member hosted on their server. Now things seem to be good again. I have probably put a bad spell on myself by saying that. Now to fix the teletext and the coloured buttons on remote and start prog using remote control! Anyone know how to do this without the HIP remote control service?
