I have PVRX2 running on my main PC cabled to my TV with an Rf remote etc. but Ive just installed win2k on an old P3 laptop which I would like hack into a standalone media player networked to the main PC and connected to the tv so I can have my kids movies, music and some old game emus available on the laptop HDD without tying up the main PC.

Is it possible to run PVRX2 on win 2k? I can get GBPVR to run but I was hoping for PVRX2 I keep running into VMR9 errors and I cant install anything better than WMP9 on win2k. :-(

Any suggestions?

I've been running PVRX2 on Windows2000 since it came out, so it's certainly possible.

I don't think I did anything special to make it go really. Which could just mean that, whatever it was, I did it earlier.

WMP 9 installed but never used if I can avoid it. PVRX2 rendered is set VMR9 Custom.

Beyond that, I'm not sure I can offer much for help, beyond assuring you that it will (eventually) work fine.

Running fine on win2k here. I run 2 MVP's and get no errors when using pvrx2 on the pc or MVP's. Have you installed everything required per the announcement post?

Arrrrrggghhhh!!! Whatever I try I just keep running into "Sorry, this system does not support the required VMR9 video renderer." when I try and start PVRX2.

I've installed what I think is the latest version of DX9 (which I assume is why it wont run) does anybody have a link to what they think is the latest version of DX9 in case I'm losing my mind!

You'll be wanting DirectX 9.0c -- can check dxdiag to ensure you have the correct version installed.

Is the video card DX9 compatible?

(/me goes poking about)

This thread might help as well. Or might not. Worth giving a read anyway.

Thanks, I found that thread just after I made my last post. I suspect the graphics card is too old to support dx9. I'll do some research and find the latest driver and see what turns up.

The laptop is a no cost option so if all else fails I can live with GBPVR, I'm only looking for video and music playback and some 16bit game emulation. For £0.00p who am I to moan! :-)

It's likely your video device in your old P3 laptop just doesnt support VMR9. For VMR9 to work on any video device, the drivers for that device have to support it, and it meet Microsoft's requirements (certain amount of video memory, certain hardware acceleration features etc).
