Audio drops out for about 8secs on resuming Play from FF

Hi M

not sure if this is known, but I'm playing (timeshifting) a recording and when I press play again after FF x1 x2 x4 or x8 video shows immediately but audio stays dead for about 8 secs. Don't see this problem on pause.

I haven't seen anything like this. I suggest trying the myiHome software to see if you also have the problem. I do know the FF modes can stress your network and if you are still wireless 8x would be extreme, but the most it should do is limit the speed

I can confirm that I have the same problem as jksmurf. I haven't tested it with MyiHome though.

Ok thanks, yet me know your results with myihome so we can see if it is an mvpmcx2/GB-PVR problem or Syabas problem.

I just tested it with MyiHome and the audio never stops. But there is a big difference between timeshifting with MyiHome and GBPVR/mvpmcx2 which makes me believe it's hard to compare. MyiHome only shows the the file lenght (timeline) that is available from the start. When it reaches the end of this length you can fast forward, but when you press play again, the file starts playing from the beginning. With mvpmcx2 length is always 00:00:00, but at least you can fast forward, loosing audio a few seconds when pressing play again.

To be honest, there probably isnt anything we can do about it.

Later we could probably ask Syabas about it. I'd rather not distract them with this sort of thing for now - there are other things I'd rather they fix (AAC LATM audio etc).

You're absolutely right, it's a minor issue.

Ok, I didn't realize by time shifting you actually meant in progress recordings. I think when sub and I can come up with a way to play files from a share this might be able to be resolved. Right now Syabas play these files a little differently via http then mvpmcx2
does and it could be difficult to implement.
