When I am trying to map the channels in configuration GBPVR finds no channels at all. The card works fine in MCE and Media Portal. The logs simply report no signal. Is there anything I can do to get GBPVR to initialize the card? I am solely interested in OTA ATSC channels. I have tried in XP and in Windows 7, and I would be happy to work in either system.

Can you try doing a scan, then post the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log?

Thank you Sub,
I tried to map the channels again and I enclose the logs as you suggested.

Cheers,

The device has failed to start, so never really did a scan. I'd try changing the video decoder, since the Microsoft video decoder has caused this issue for some other users.

Hi Sub,
I have been trying to sort out the problem over the past four days. I live in southern Ontario so I thought I would give some details for fellow GTA folks.

As you suggested, I installed and registered Mpeg2DecFilter.ax and the MpaDecFilter.ax (unicode) from the free codecs site. This did not work so I tried to re-register the filters but my Windows 7 kept blocking the process. But Windows conveniently gave a list of the filters it would not register so I opened notepad and copied the command regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\MpaDecFilter.ax" into it. Then I substituted each of the filter names. Then I copied this and opened the command prompt as an administer and pasted it in. Crude as it may seem, this worked and the filters registered. I was then able to map the digital channels to my EPG.

But I was not able to watch live tv. I lengthened the playback time in config to 2000 and that did the trick. For my fellow Torontonians who want to pull in the high definitiion broadcasts from the States, I would counsel against the Hauppuage tuners. My Sony can pull in 21 digital channels but the Hauppauge can only pull in 9 - fortunately for me It pulls in WNED so I can live with the poor performance, but it misses the sports channel! Also we Canadians have a very limited choice when it comes to EPG. I used a Zap2 it account and the Zap2xml. It works great, and it has the advantage that you can put the Zap2it into your browser favourites so you can check the tv listings whenever you browse.
Sorry about the long post, but there is not much in the forums to advise Canadians.

Take care.

Try clicking live tv, then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Hi Sub,
I apologize about the long post. I did get the live tv to work in the end. I made the long post because there is very little for Canadians in the forums. I think what I have given them will be a good start. When I finish setting up the GBPVR (I want to record the high definition programs and then stream them back to my Sony Bravia. Personally, i don't know why we can't make the TV do the heavy lifting instead of the computer. ) I will put the details all together so that anyone from Ontario who follows me will have a head start. Sorry for not making myself clear, and thank you again for all the work you do.

Take care,

John
