Sub,

After some investigations I think I was able to get the correct bda.ini settings:
http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post375968

Code:
[Hauppauge HVR-4400 (DVB-S/S2)]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
SUPPORTS_BDA_DISEQC=3
ONLY_SCAN_ON_LOCK=1
TUNING_SPECIAL=5
SHARED_NAME=Hauppauge 4400
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV 885 BDA Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV 885 TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[Hauppauge HVR-4400 (DVB-T)]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
SHARED_NAME=Hauppauge 4400
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV 885 BDA Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV 885 TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

After this I was able to set up the DVB-T part and channels were found, mapped and working.

However, moving on to the DVB-S part I run in to trouble.

First, running the scan without the WinTV-CI module gives me no channels found (see logs in nochannels.zip).

Second, doing the same excercise with the WinTV-CI module gives me the message "unable to start the BDA device..." (see logs in device_error.zip)

I have also tried with an updated version of the transponder list (3592.ini) from http://www.fastsatfinder.com/transponders.html as I think that there has been recent updates on the Thor satellite I am using (see logs in transponder.zip). No channels found here either.

Using the Hauppauge WinTV7 software I am able to scan and view all (including encrypted) DVB-S channels.

Sorry for the long post and all the different logs but I really need some help at this point.

Update, I was able to resolve the issue I had with the CI module by copy the hcwWinTVCI.dll file from the Hauppauge WinTV directory to the 'c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr' directory as described in this thread: http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...TVCIUSBBDA. However, still no channels in the scan.

Update 2, after alot of forum search and log reading I am sure the problem of not finding any channels is related to the scan not being able to start the device.

Code:
2010-05-28 22:38:28.375    VERBOSE    Starting graph...
2010-05-28 22:38:28.515    ERROR    Failed to start BDA Graph
2010-05-28 22:38:28.515    VERBOSE    ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED

I have tried everything from reinstalling/uninistalling WinTV7 and the reinstalling drivers but the problem remains.

Any ideas? I am still not sure that the bda.ini settings are correct. Hoping for an easy salvation on this one...

It looks like you got the DVB-S section wrong in the bda.ini file. I think it should be:

[Hauppauge HVR-4400 (DVB-S/S2)]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
SUPPORTS_BDA_DISEQC=3
ONLY_SCAN_ON_LOCK=1
TUNING_SPECIAL=5
SHARED_NAME=Hauppauge 4400
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV 885 Alt BDA Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV 885 Alt TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

THANK YOU sub!!!

That was probably the only thing i did not try. I had seen the "alt" stuff but thought it stood for alternative so I did not bother. Anyhow, it works now even though I think the the transponder list file (3592.ini) you have in GBPVR is outdated (am now scanning using a new file from http://www.fastsatfinder.com/transponders.html and I am finding more channels).

So for the dvb-t part, am I using the correct bda.ini settings or should that also include the "alt"?

Thanks again,

Sub, I now saw your answer in the hardware section. Please ignore my question on the dvb-t part.

Thanks,
