Alright everyone, I'm finally breaking down... I took 3 days of off and on research for setting up my hauppauge 250. I'm new to pvr's so spare my naiveness if I do show any.
To first start off, I installed the pvr driver's and codecs from their website and .net1.1. Then I installed wintv2000. Then I installed gb-pvr. When I first tried to start gb-pvr it bluescreened on me... actually i tried many different configs and it kept bluescreening. What I had found out is that I actually didn't do the above in the right order and something had screwed up. So the second time around I installed all drivers and softwares in the right order and I was able to get both to start. However, when I first started tinkering around with it I was able to only get the first 13 channels, which is basic cable (I am in the US and I have Comcast... blah!). After I played more with some configurations both wintv2000 and gb-pvr gave me black blank screens, but I could get audio. Now I'm really stuck... I tried to search this forum and another forum and I tried some methods that were suggested and it does not work. any suggestion anyone?
I was maybe thinking, would there be any conflicts with my radeon 9200se drivers? that would be one thing i can think of, or if i have gbpvr out of wack! please help, this thing is driving me nuts!

I'm ran a pvr250 with a Radeon 9200 SE until my 250 finally bit the dust, so there's no problem there. (Of course, you should get the latest graphic drivers from ATI's website.) The first step is to get the 250 running with the supplied Hauppauge software, because if it's not working, gbpvr isn't going to work either.

Follow the steps on Hauppauge's website for a clean install. It starts with running a program that wipes the registry of previous installs and requires following the steps in a very particular order, so I suggest downloading the various files, printing the instructions out and then executing them. You'll have to reboot a couple times but you should find they work for you. If you get the standard software working, you shouldn't have much if any trouble with gbpvr. If you can't get the standard stuff working, you won't get gbpvr going either because it relies on a functional driver installation.

Good luck,
Tim

If you've been getting blue screens, that typically points to a driver related problem, or other system instability.

I wouldn't think you'd need to re-install gbpvr. Once you get the standard Hauppauge software working, it should just be a matter of adding your board to the config of gbpvr.

Download and install http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/..._23070.exe
and then this http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...pegdecoder

That should fix your problem.

Hi,

I used to have the same problem with a pvr250 where i could get sound but no video. All you need to do is change the video playback decoder from the system default. If i remember rightly i set mine to cyberlink and it worked fine.

cheers
