Despite a valiant attempt to stall even longer, 1.8.5 has been release, find it on the wiki.

From the changelog:

Version 1.8.5:

Quote:o New "play file" popup
- Tries to (roughly) mirror the base GBPVR behaviour when playing a "Recordings" file.
- When playing an episode, an additional popup will appear, displaying the episode's rating, and a random character image (that appears in that episode)
- Can rate episodes from same popup
- [Advanced] Those with current beta version of ffdshow will also see, and be able to select, which audio / video stream they would like used.
- Regrettably, there is no way to change streams while the video is playing. Further, since the stream details are supplied by ffdshow, the file needs to play
once to get stream data.
- Working on the assumption that all files of a series will use the same stream setup (not always true, but a good start), stream preferences for one file of
a series will apply to other files as well, unless individually changed.
- Use the number keys to select streams. 1-3 select audio streams, 4 upward select subtitle streams
- Stream names are supplied by the file. So if the encoder used something silly, something silly will appear.
- Again, the current stable release of ffdshow (such as that which is distributed with CCCP) does NOT support this stream switching.
o New "Calendar" option on the main menu.
- Provides a list of the next 25 upcoming anime
- NOTE! Adult (18+) titles are displayed here based on the user's "Show Adult Content" setting in their AniDB preference. HOWEVER, in some instances an anime
will be marked "18+" after the calendar request has already been processed. Additionally, there may be some variance between what Japan considers 18+ and the
user's opinion. In short, if there are children around, use some care in selecting this option.
o Character details are now retrieved from AniDB. Since some series have a lot of characters (hi One Piece!), characters are retrieved gradually, over the course
of several updates.
o Episode titles for which the client has no (uncorrupt) files are now displayed, in red, in the episode list.
o The flow of rating anime / episodes has changed sharply. On clicking the vote button, the user image will change to include two arrows. The user can then increase
or decrease their vote using their right / left buttons, OR by pressing the number directly. Press ENTER/SELECT again to commit the vote, or ESCAPE/CANCEL to
abort.
o Reorganized categories. Instead of one (largely useless) list of all categories, categories are now organized into a tree, allowing the user to drill down to
their desired choice.
o As anime details are updated, 'unknown' date parts will be properly represented. For example, a title to start airing "some time in February 2010" will be
rendered as "2010-02" (no day), instead of February 01, 2010 (which suggests the title starts on the first, which is not necessarily true.) In these instances,
ISO date formatting is used.
o Reduced maximum time between AniDB requests from 30 seconds to three.
o Countless internal changes that mean nothing to the user, but let me fluff out the "changes" list a bit.
o The "breadcrumbs" / "current display" indicator at the top of the page has been improved significantly, and should now indicate where in a tree you are, even
when looking at notifications or related titles.
o Can now navigate to UNC paths from the configuration form's Add Folder dialogue

since you didn't get any responses to the request for guinea pigs, myself included unfortunately (I just haven't had time to play with my HTPC setup recently). I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!

I will definitely upgrade to this at some point... though "some point" may be 2010. Smile

thanks again for all the hard work!

Heh, thank you for your kind words. Happily, I was able to inflict it on Takkun before he had a chance to run. And a good thing too, as he caught a pair of silly errors in the installer, which would have been annoying.

I was in the process of moving much of my anime to a new server and was having trouble with the scanner crashing. I happened to check the forums here and saw you had posted a new version so I gave it a shot.

Unfortunately, things didn't go so well.

During the install, the DB upgrade failed:
Quote:12/10/2009 9:34:55 AM :: Upgrading Database to Version 4
12/10/2009 9:35:00 AM :: Abort due to constraint violation

Since I was moving a bunch of file anyway, I thought I would just let it create a new database and give that a go...but it failed as well.

When I got in this evening, I checked the logs and saw it was having trouble. I moved the new DB out of the way and let it create it again. No DB errors reported this time but I still appear to be banned:

While all this was happening, I saw some odd behavior in the scanner app as well. This evening, it had a couple thousand DB queries pending. I stopped and restarted the app and tried to start hashing again. After a few hashes completed, my pending requests dropped from a couple thousand down to 0 without counting down.

I suspect that the initial conversion issue may have been caused by the fact that I had files queued to hash and DB queries queued to send when I did the install. This is just a guess but I suspect that is not the normal state you expect during a conversion. After that, it all just devolved <grin>

"Didn't go so well". Well, that's one way of putting it! Oweee!

Would you mind sending me a copy of your database? I'd very much like to find out where it is failing. I'm guessing it is with the category conversion somewhere, but I would like to be sure and, well, fix it.

"The database file is locked" is a bit distressing. Is the database on a networked drive?

Either way, I hate to see you have to start over with a fresh database, so I think getting that fixed up will be my first goal. The /banned/ response from the server will go away on its own, although I would be interested in knowing what triggered it in the first place. Are there hashing logs available too?

Sorry for the trouble that it is giving you!

My DB should be in your mailbox as I type this.

The only thing on the network are the video files themselves. No hashing logs. I'm not sure how to turn that on.

Version 1.8.6 out on the wiki.

Quote:* Tweaked code for detecting the API-usable version of ffdshow to ensure PVRX2 remains responsive during the first 10 seconds of video play.
* "New Plugin Version Available" will be removed when changing focus from the buttons to the title list. (The idea being keep it long enough to be seen, but not clutter the screen)
* Fix for database upgrade that would cause it to fail if existing files were moved but not yet rehashed.
* Trims long title- / episode- / file names so they don't wrap and become pretty much unreadable.
* Minor Play File popup UI changes
* Scanning for file changes can now be initiated from within the plugin.
- Click LEFT on the button list to access the new menu (with all one item), click LEFT again to return to the main menu.
* Included option to automatically add files to AniDB's MyList, optionally including the folder's name in AniDB's 'storage' field. See "AniDB Setup" tab in the config form.
* Fix for a fresh install of Halii splitter not being recognized as installed
* The BLUE remote button will no longer crash the plugin with a "missing XML" error message.

I installed the new version and I am still getting the odd hang where the window almost fades away but then locks up PVRX2. I get the following error in the log,

Quote:2009-12-14 03:23:48.875 ERROR [1] Unexpected error: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

That last bit repeats forever.

I appear to have a newer version of WizUtils installed that you have in the installer. I have 1.0.24.0 of WizUIHelper.dll if that is of any help.

I also couldn't figure out what button you wanted me to left click on in order to access the in-plugin scan.

Oh! I forgot something. The new version also made the config app very unhappy. config.exe would refuse to close and reported the following error:

Quote:2009-12-14 03:07:59.328 WARNING [1] requested skin file not found: AniLibrary\panel.xml
2009-12-14 03:07:59.359 ERROR [1] Unable to create SkinHelper.

at GBPVR.Backend.Common.xc4f12ec3a8a4c96b.xd1ccdef346e6a297(Boolean x8bae2a88590d8cc0)

I do have a panel.xml file in my skin2/blue/AniLibrary folder so I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm not sure why config.exe is trying to load your plugin's skin anyway.

I tried reinstalling to no avail. I can remove and re-install your plugin if you think that will be useful.

EDIT: OK. So uninstalling and reinstalling appears to have fixed the config.exe problem. And I found the SCAN button. But the hang on window close still persists.
