Use Physical Channel. In this case use 55 and localted several messages in this thread you would find tables that would translate that to 409250.

Also there isn't really a relationship between what is available via firewire and clear QAM.

Thanks for replying.

Your reply helps to illustrate why I am asking for help on the useage of the ATSC BDA Source in Tsreader since it is VERY confusing as well am I.

Tsreader's pop up tuner which shows up when you start it with the "ATSC BDA" Source wants Mhz for the frequency.

I know from the scan in GBPVR's Config tool that the frequency of 529250, gives me channel 5 and channels 26.1 through 26.4 (5 is our local Fox channel and 26 is our digital PBS station and it has 4 subchannels)

However, since Tsreader wants Mhz, until I put 529 in it's tuner,it will show a channel number of 0 next to the frequency that I entered. Ie. If I enter 529, it will display channel 23 but anything more than 3 digits will cause it to display channel 0

Apparantly Tsreader is using this table:
http://etvcookbook.org/extra/frequency.html for it's mapping.

When I start trying the frequency that you just gave me ( 409250), I get Zero for 409 as well as any of the number of digits from it.
That makes sense because 409 is not a valid ATSC frequency.
Look at the table.

Normally I would have just decided that this will not work for what I am trying to accomplish and given up BUT 2 days ago, I tried this BDA source and got it to work.

I am really mad at myself because I did not take notes and I am convinced that I mistyped the frequency. Tsreader apparantly 'liked' the one I had entered and displayed 5 thumbnails from each channel.
I could click on each one and it would automartically launch VLC to play the video.

Since I KNOW that this works, I am trying to replicate it and have been taking copious notes.

Tsreader is such a powerful program and is not cheap. it is a shame that there is not a forum for it like there is for GBPVR which is free.
When I could not get GBPVR to find any channels when I installed it, I was able to get it all working perfectly with my HVR-1600 simply by reading the wiki and searching this forum.

I have googled on all kinds of key words trying to find some info oin how to get this to work. Frustrating.

Can you try out this BDA souce on your system with TSreader and see if you can replicate what I have been saying?

I sure would appreciate it.

BTW, my interest in Tsreader with Gbpvr is that I am trying to work out a way of making a simple workflow between recording to disk and using my JVC D-VHS deck when needed for the non-zero 5C channels.

TSReader and GBPVR show the same streams when I enter by channel. If you want to use the frequecy GBPVR is 1750 lower, so for your example of 529250 enter 531 Mhz in TSReader.

I am sorry but your cryptic answers are not helping me.

Are you doing the same thing as I am doing with Tsreader?

The 2 enclosed screen snapshots show what I am doing.
One is my entering 531 for frequency (tsreader is filling in the channel) and the other is the 'failed to lock' after I hit the TUNE button.

Thanks,
Joe

We aren't doing the same thing. You are using the ATSC driver and I am using the QAM driver, which you will have to get from the author if they aren't in the TSReader distribution yet.

Ah - now we are getting somewhere.

We are getting our drivers confused.

I am using the recently released QAM driver for the HVR-1600 from Hauppage and it is working fine in GBPVR. That would be the same driver you are using.

Thje driver I am trlkaing about is for tsreader.

The ATSC BDA driver that I have been referring to is the Source that one has to pick in Tsreader which defines what it is to do.

Most people pick the "File for Transport Stream files" source in Tsreader but I am using the "ATSC BDA source in Tsreader.

The enclosed picture is the source election IN Tsreader. If I could have scrolled down far enough for the snaposhot, you would have seen the choice for the File for Ts files and Firewire.

Can you load Tsreader with the ATSC BDA source and try again?

You do a Ctrl-Click on the tsreader icon to get to the Source selection menu as shown in the snapshot.

Thanks,
Joe

There is a QAM tsreader plugin/driver you need to install if you want to use tsreader for QAM. The plugin you're selecting is only for OTA.

I was a little disappointed to notice on the Hauppauge site that the same driver I've been using since June has moved from beta to production status. Although it is stable, I was hoping the sensitivity issue would be able to be handled better.

Especially since the drivers are still causing the signal to report negative strength, like -1000. lol

Is anyone else experiencing disappearing channels? My PBS station will no longer tune, but comes in fine with my eyeTV in the other room. Most vexing
