We're only talking three(?) buttons, so its not really a big deal.

So my MCE remote doesn't have the red, yellow and other rainbow buttons, is there anything I can do to regain that functionality? Somehow I am under the impression that those buttons got dropped from the new version...

Sorry Sub I partially disagree with you. GBPVR does cover coloured buttons but they are spread around. Before installing HIP I had to press MyTV button to have the blue button functionality. I don’t know why but this what happened. This was the reason why I installed HIP no other.

Is there any option to start GBPVR with MCERemote, without installing another software?

Yes of course.
Choose your Remote Control Type when configuring GBPVR.
Look at this link http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/DVD

I dont really get what you're saying. Below is my MCE remote. The red/green/yellow/blue buttons are right next to each other. Infact all the buttons are pretty well placed on this remote, and well labelled (ie, names = use in GB-PVR), and with the exception of three buttons they're all work in GB-PVR. Those three missing buttons will be working in the next release.

I'm guessing you've got some other remote?

Now I Know why!
Mine has more buttons than your!
As soon as I find a picture I'll post it here
Perhaps do you need the IR map of the buttons (IR code sent by each button)?

Many of the problems with MCE remote are due to slightly different versions. Each manufacturer apperently can add extra buttons or remove them.

I can think of at least a few different versions.

HP, Hauppauge, Philips, MS. I'm sure there are others.
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None

I'll pretty much code for the MCE remotes I have (2004/2005/Cyberlink). This will cover most users. If users have other MCE remotes like the Hauppauge one (US version missing color keys), then if the built in support does not work adequately, they'll need to look at HIP or Girder.
