4.4GB is starting to get close to the 4.7GB limit of a blank dvd. I wonder if the burn process failed. perhaps try a shorter film as MVRC3 does not transcode (shrink) the video to fit on a disk (afaik).

Good news on fixing the dvd player!

Yeah I need to see what is happening by trying to write it to the DVD manually after MVRC3 has made the IFO/VOB files. I asked reven about shrink, but he said maybe later. I also asked him about >1 DVD-writer, but that was a "nah". I have an pretty old DVD writer, an NEC-ND1300A with all the latest firmware etc. etc. maybe it's that. MVRC3 said "Burn completed" though.

I bought a new Sony DRU-820A (and got Nero 6.6 with it). Do you know if you can set the write speed in MVRC3 or fix it in Nero. Maybe I just need to say "write-slower"... Smile

no idea how u can set the drive speed. i suspect that the way that reven fires off nero means that nero detects the speed of the dvd and burns at that speed. once solution - buying some 2x dvds might work!

LOL, having done some more reading you are correct, it is determined as max by the drive! However some front ends like GUIDVDAuthor and others do actually allow this to be set. I have been having headaches with this whole thing, the MPEGtoDVD wasn;t too bad, jsut cut off blablah at ends with DVDShrink and it was small enough that a shrink wasn't required.

The DivXtoMPEGtoDVD was a PITA, it was too big even with the ends chopped off. I really wish DVDshrink would allow more than just scene END edits, so I could snip out 1/2 time too. I hate to use 3 different progs to perform a task. I guess the trick is to make lots of small files when making the VOBs and chop the ends off those... I tried VideoRedo on the VOB files but it hated me and wouldn't open again in DVD shrink .... ouch, my head is spining from all this stuff. WAF is down the tubes too ... . There's so many different prgrams that claim to do all sorts of magic and some of them are pure geek and some of them don't work (for me at least ...). I ended up using shrink to shrink them, something I was trying to avoid due to quality loss. Never mind...
