MVP and pvr150 here sub. I notice when it does it that the blue button timeline is not updating and the drive light on the pc is on solid. It "seems" to skip back to the last "resume" point that was saved in the DB. If I get a good log I will send.

sorry i can't give you a whole lot of info since i'm new to using GBPVR, but i too have seen this. i'm not using an MVP. it's very minor for me. one or two key presses gets the video to go forward again.

i'm not sure this is relevant, but i have seen that behaviour in the past before i got my driver issues resolved... see http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...06&page=11

Sorry I did not answer your question Sub, this is on viewing recordings that have already been made and are not in progress. I just had it happen again, was looking through the logs and there was nothing there, probably because the second MVP was on. I'll make sure I only have one on and try and get you some logs next time it happens. It takes a few hours of viewing shows for it to show up.

I havent used the MVP much recently, so dont know if the behaviour is the same, i'll check. For me this is happening directly from the PC.

This is happening on shows ive already recorded, not in progress recordings.

The only pattern i can establish is that it seems to be on recordings where DVB-T artifacts can be seen, although i dont know how much of an effect this could have on the skipping?

I don't know if it's relevant, and I have no logs, and it only happened once. But if it helps (it never happened before).

While watching a show while it is being recorded, trying to skip commercials, I did
SkipF, SkipF, SkipF (3 times). Let's call this position now 'X'.
So, now I see that i did a bit too much, so I did one rewind. Call this position 'Y'.
So, I leave it alone, and it plays, and when it got to pos 'X' it jumped back to 'Y' and re-played this part (I was afraid I'll be in a loop) but it finished fine.

Didn't happen again.

Please excuse the redundant post but I think there's some chance that this .NET repair may be relevant to the 98.8 skip problem. (I also posted this to the 98.8 web admin problems thread.)

I have had a similar skip problem after upgrading to 98.8. I also had a problem where enhanced web admin no longer worked after my upgrade, and I repaired .NET 2.0 and that appears to have fixed the webadmin issue.

Like other users, 98.8 is giving me trouble skipping forward and backward and misreporting the length of some newly recorded programs, as well as skipping long stretches--minutes--in the midst of a 3.5 hour recording (confirmed by replaying file on another computer). Also when I tried playing this file back on another 'puter using MediaClassic, it DIFFERENTLY misreported the length, although it had less funky fast forward/skip/rewind/back behavior using the slider. Interestingly, the file is a similar size as a previous 3.5 hour recording using 97.13.

However, a shorter 1 hour program recorded just fine in 98.8 and reported the length correctly. But I was also seeing small glitches--momentary pauses, freezes--when playing back programs recorded with 97.13, as well as the 1 hour program that seemed to record fine.

Both types of problems were present from both my MVP and the main system.

After repairing the .Net 2.0 framework, at least some of the short glitches during playback are gone--I was able to identify the same spot where a glitch had reliably been occuring and it no longer did after the repair.

Now all this may, as Sub suggests, be related to the Hauppauge timestamp problem as I have a PVR 150 and a PVR 500. But I never experienced such problems with 97.13. So maybe it is .Net 2.0 related?

To test I am doing another long recording test tonight after installing the .NET 2.0 framework and before messing with the Hauppauge drivers--one change at a time. Perhaps the skip problem is also just a .Net 2.0 Framework problem after upgrading to 98.8? I'll report back tomorrow after my test records overnight.

by repiring .Net 2.0 you mean a reinstall?

I have videos that skip chunks occasionally, but its rare and i put it down to signal quality to the Nova-t's (sometime the normal freeview box just gives a black screen for a few seconds)

A reinstall should do it, though the msi file gave the options of "repair" or "uninstall." I chose repair.

I'm happy to report that most problems seem to have been fixed by the repairing of .NET 2.0. The program length appeared correctly on a 3.5 hour recording, and using the fast forward and back and skip and rewind buttons was all fine. However, I'll know more once I watch something I am recording and actually want to watch, as opposed to the test.

I do appear to still have some sound stuttering and video glitches in the recording however. I was not getting those before upgrading to 98.8. Hmmmph.

Here are some logs Sub. I skipped forward at around 10:20 pm and it skipped back. I then looked at the ctrl-B screen and noticed that the seconds on the left of the timeline were not incrementing. I am still watching the show and the numbers on the left of the ctrl-B screen are now stuck and the marker is sitting at 00:31:42 and commercials are not being skipped properly. I am also watching well beyond the indicated 00:31:42. Before when I noticed this the drive light was on solid, but it's showing normal sporadic reads for playing a file at this time.

Later... I watched till the end of the show and when it finished the MVP screen went black after showing a flash of the menu screen. The show ended at about 11:01 pm. I then tried a skip back to see what would happen and the show started playing from the beggining and ctrl-B showed a timeline of 00:00:00 to 00:00:01. I tried to exit but it would not respond so I powered off the MVP and turned it back on.

When the MVP was restarted I replayed the show I had been watching and did a RESUME, interestinglyly it started playing at 00:32:02 after it had skipped a commercial that was spanning the 00:31:42 time. Everything is back to normal functioning.

IMHO this is not the Hauppauge driver timeline issue, I had been through that one before and settled on a driver that has been 100% for me. The logs should show all the above activity, sorry for being so lengthy. It took a few days for this to happen again, so it's not a huge issue but I hope the logs are helpful to you.
