I've had a similar problem with 97.13. Yesterday I changed the quartz.dll (was from 08/30/2005) to an older version (07/16/2005). Downloaded it from dll-files.com. I read about this in a thread (can't remember which one). Till now it's better (no stuttering for recordings...). By the way I've had no luck updating to 98.08 (always got error 2305 and 1395)

I'll have a look at the quartz.dll - thanks, not sure why it should be different to how 96.12 runs though.

To move to 98.08, I installed 97.13 and converted the database to sqlite using convertdatabase.exe. From there it runs OK for me(minus the stuttering in my case)

Yeah, it could be the quartz.dll thing.

It'd be interesting to know if you disable hardware accelleration in your decoder, or use a decoder that doesnt offer it, does the problem go away? http://sourceforge.net/projects/gplmpgdec/

Hi,

I tried the latest directx update form here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

I didn't notice any difference.

I also tried disabling hardware acceleration in NVidia decoder, and I installed the gpl decoder.

Again no difference.

Watching it while recording it's as if it starts to get behind and pauses for a minute, then races ahead in fast forward to catch up to where it should be.

Cheers

Have you tried a newer version of the Cyberlink mux?

I tried THMpgMux.ax 5.0.0.22 from the Twinhan software.

Is there a better version to try ?

Not sure why my existing setup should be fine in 96.12 and yet not working for 97.x / 98.08

Sorry, I dont know. It doesnt seem to be a common problem, so I cant only guess its something funny about your setup.

Hayden,
have you managed to get anywhere with this as I have a simallar problem running 96.12 , a twinhann satalite card also have a nividia 6200 video card. However I also see the same stutter through my MVP. However I only see the problem on some channels! All bbc channels work fine. All ITV channels have the problem. Unfortunatly I not sure when my problem started they used to all work, but I don't record ITV regularly and some times the recording would have been from my analoge card which still works fine. So it originally appeared to me that only an odd recording was failling over the last few months and during that period there have been several updates on the PC including the install of the nividia card.

No, I haven't resolved it yet - still using 96.12

I've rolled back the forceware driver to 81.98 and PureVideo to 1.02.185 and will give that a go on the weekend
