convert mpg to dvd w/o 15 minutes of hd noise?

so if i understand correctly, there's no dvd burning program that can burn from mpg->dvd in 10 minutues on 16x burner from start to finish? all of them need make some temp files/hd noise for 20 minutes before it starts burning? So, it's 20 minutes of temp files/hd noise + 10-15 minutes of burn on 16x dvd burner = 30-35 minutes to burn a mpg to dvd?

I burn my DVD's at the slowest speed possible.
Otherwise my DVD player will not recognize the disk.

You might also want to check if your dvd player supports mpg. In that case you don't have to author a dvd but burn the show to disk just like that.
