Yes, but as you can see from the log that's a DivX file (it's an .avi)

It works for everything *except* it doesn't get used for timeshifting live tv.. and that's what I'm after.

Is ffdshow postprocessing even a feature for timeshiting; it seems that it's not? Can you please add this if it's not?

Hi,

This does work fine. Here's what I did:

1) Download and install DecCheck http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=DE1491AC-0AB6-4990-943D-627E6ADE9FCB&displaylang=en

2) Install ffdShow and under video configuration/codecs select Mpeg2/libmpeg2 and tick the box "DVD Decoding" at the bottom.

3) Run DecCheck and set ffdShow as Preferred.

4) Load GB-PVR Config and under the Playback tab set Audio and Video as System Default. Leave "Use ffdShow post-processing" UNTICKED. (It doesn't need to be set if you are using ffdShow as the decoder and will just double up processing if you leave it ticked.)

5) Do the same for the DVD & Remote tab.

That's it! You can test that post processing is working by right clicking on the FFV icon in the system tray and selecting Flip.

Regards

Vic

^ but I'm not using ffdshow as my MPEG2 decoder, I just want to use it for postprocessing. I can do this just fine in GraphEdit or MPC, but GB-PVR refuses to include the ffdshow raw video filter in the graph.

By the way, as a test, I did what you said and set ffdshow as the decoder and kept the postprocessing checked to see if I would get both the decoder and raw video filter to show up, but sure enough, the raw video filter still didn't come up.

sub, can you verify if the software tries to put in the raw video filter for timeshifting? It seems that it doesn't.

I dont think it uses it for time shifting. It should use it whenever you play back a recording though.

Tryouts definitely works for timeshifting and live TV. Version 1355, at least, don't know about newer ones. I just checked it with both MPV and PDVD7 decoders, but it should work with all of them.

Make sure PVRx2 is added in FFdshow DirectShow Control, Codecs: Raw Video all supported, check the ffdshow box in gbpvr config, and that should be about it.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

hmm.. you're saying that you are able to use MPV or PDVD7 as your MPEG2 decoder for timeshifting, and ffdshow gets invoked as the postprocessor? (ffdshow is not doing the decoding, just postprocessing)?

Yah.

I think Dscaler5 is the only other decent decoder I have installed I could test. I got rid of the PureVideo junk (again. should have learned the first time). I'm sure they'd all work. FFdshow shouldn't care what decoder you're using. Was doing it on live and timeshifted ATSC. Could slow the Showtime at the Apollo dancers down to about 10fps by flipping on a whole bunch of filters.

I never use ffdshow as the mpeg2 decoder. It's ok, but it's not too hard to see the quality is a little worse than other decoders.

The thing I don't understand is why the ffdshow box needs to be checked in gbpvr. Would think with the Raw Video Filter of ffdshow it'd work on any video no matter what is playing it, but I need the box checked.
